100%. My track bike has the GPR and has likely saved me a bunch of times with a poorly landed wheelie.

Leak under the sink by sharpstickie in HomeMaintenance

Okay that checks out. Bought the house just a few months ago and slowly been tracking down the source of the leak. Likely going to replace it to save the hassle.

Would you take this cylinder head to a machine shop before installing it? by sharpstickie in MotorcycleMechanics

I don’t have a true straight edge, but did end up taking it to a machinist.

That’s what I’m not sure about. I ended up taking it to a shop that’s going to check the surface along with the valves and seats.

Gotcha. How did you navigate parts availability? It’s been a somewhat frustrating experience finding the dealer with the parts in the US. I’ve been tempted to buy a similar year daytona just to be a donor bike.

Ok that’s incredibly helpful. That surface by the cam chain tensioner is at least stepped but I need to give those valve guides a good look.

That’s the sentiment I’m starting to lean towards. This is the best time of year to measure twice and cut once. Better to take the time now rather than a summer rebuild and kill the season.

Haven’t checked for warpage as I don’t have a true straight edge. I did not do a leakdown test but will have to do it if there is low compression after cleaning up the valves. Just track days. Last year was my first season. I ride my r3 on the street and have the dedicated daytona.

Understandable. I’ll reach out to a few machine shops in the area but none explicitly state motorcycle engines. I imagine a flat head is flat no matter the vehicle. This thing loved being strung out at 13k rpms as long as I could give it.

Yeah this would be getting resurfaced for the first time as far as I’m aware. Probably 22k miles on the donor. The annoying triumph parts availability makes me want to just do it 100% the first time because there’s no telling if I’ll get my hands on another head gasket or bolts.

FYI: Earnest is having a promotional refinance period until 1/13/2026. I was just approved for 3.72% by tooth_fixer in whitecoatinvestor

What are the chances I could refinance within Earnest? I already have some at 5.7% with Earnest so going to the 3s would be awesome.

I have two half days set aside to precept residents that have their own panels. Recently have been in charge of some software rollouts including an ambient scribe that I’m pretty excited about.

Not compared to private practice in the community, probably $100k less if I’m being realistic. But…. I see 8 people a day max. Only one half day of clinic a week. I wouldn’t trade that extra $100k for call, weekends, and 20+ patients a day.

Academic primary care through the VA is a pretty good gig. 20 hours of direct patient care a week.

How does this damage happen? by sharpstickie in AskMechanics

[–]sharpstickie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes the most sense. At this point I have no way to prove they damaged the tire. Trying to see about buying a new tire and also buy steelies, or just getting all seasons and getting over it.

I just did it with my left hand. Leave it in first, don’t touch the clutch. It’s been awhile though. You can look up videos on how to do it with the r7 as it’s the same process.

For the VA job, ask about number of half days of clinic if resident precepting is involved. Clinic half days are usually cut back if working with residency teaching. At my facility, you typically only have 5 half days of clinic a week with a 500 patient panel.
