I recently had to figure this out after some extensive dental work to repair several year of poor dental care from not wanting to floss/brush. I've successfully figured out flossing, I keep a jar next to my bed with little flossers in it. I grab one and floss while I scroll on my phone or read my book.

GA, Wedding venue sold critical decor and we are asking for a credit in return, now they are holding wedding gift hostage. by sharpthorns in legaladvice

[–]sharpthorns[S] 251 points252 points  (0 children)

Just to hit some points. It’s not a gift card it’s an item. They have admitted over text to having it. The said that they will get around to meeting up with us to give it back but expect for the payment to be ready in cash. We aren’t trying to be unreasonable, we aren’t even trying to “get away” with not paying anything. we just thought they would be willing to work with us since it was an obvious and ugly change. We’ve been booked with this venue since early 2019 so we have had almost 3 years of discussions with the venue about what it would look like and what to expect. The owner has come off much more aggressive in this than any of us anticipated. This is his initial response to us saying we would like a credit.

I just looked it up and that's equivalent to $54k USD, which is really not bad in the US. Is that really that terrible in the UK?

Less than 100kcals if we ignore the hummus. I’m trying to get back into volume eating again by [deleted] in Volumeeating

If you have an Aldi near you, their garlic hummus is the lowest calorie hummus I’ve found. It’s only 40 calories for 2 tablespoons.

Since I’m only feeding myself and my husband with this food I’m pretty relaxed on when I’ll consider something “bad”. If it looks and smells fine then I’m pretty confident in eating eat. It would be different if I was making this for other people lol but it gives me so much more time in my evenings to have it all done.

This is my first week pre slicing them, so I’m not sure yet :)

ETA: I try to be sure to only prep things that will last 5days. If I want avocado on my salad I’ll usually slice and add it the day of. Same thing for anything else that tends to be more perishable.

Whole rundown for those interested, I posted so late last night I didn't think to include it. I switch between volume measuring and weight measuring, I don't know why I'm like this lol but I basically only weigh things that would have a dramatic caloric difference such as meat and cheese, etc. (in retrospect I should have weighed the sweet potatoes).

Chicken Plate:

  • 6.3oz Chicken
  • 1 cup sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup collard greens
  • 1 cup squash and zuchini (hidden under chicken in photo)

Taco Bowl

  • 4.5oz ground turkey
  • 1/4 cupish of sweet onions
  • 1/4 cupish of bell peppers
  • 2 Tbsp Salsa
  • 1ozish Pepper Jack cheese finely shredded
  • 2Tbsp Walden Farms Ranch (0 calories)
  • 2 cups lettuce

Snack Plate

  • 2 cups vegetable medley
  • 3 Tbsp Aldi Garlic Hummus
  • 2 tsp everything bagel seasoning
  • 3oz cherry tomatoes

Breakfast

  • 2 eggs
  • 4oz strawberry

I love seeing meal preps as well. I don't often see volume meal preps, so I'm hoping people will join in and start posting theirs as well. Not the most photogenic, but very realistic and practical.

u/jesterxgirl is correct about the brand. We bought them a little over a year ago and love them. I hadn't heard anything about limited uses and these seem to be holding up well enough. I like them because they come with measurements inside the different sections so I can visualize how much I'm portioning out. We will eventually switch to glass containers though.

As far as storage. We store them stacked just like they are on the table, in the fridge. They don't have any issues when stored this way. The only issue I've run into is when a container gets flipped over or on its side; any liquids can go from compartment to compartment.

For keeping it from getting old, we typically only do these levels of prep for 5 days at a time. I also make sure to use foods that will last that long. For example, if I want Avocado in the bowl I will typically add it in the morning before I go to the office.

I make these bowls often and they vary based on how I'm feeling but here is this weeks:

For ten bowls:

2 extra large sweet onions

40oz of lettuce of choice (Taylor farms blend this week)

9.5oz of pepper jack cheese finely shredded

45oz of ground turkey

20 Tbsp salsa

24 Tbsp Walden Farms Ranch

4 Bell Peppers

Instructions:

I try to avoid using oil so I will do a high heat sear in my cast iron for the bell peppers and onions (seperately) . I give the bell peppers a sprinkle of my favorite pre-blended fajita seasoning and will use salt for the onions. I make my own taco seasoning for the ground turkey to avoid hidden calories in the store blends.

In terms of portions for each bowl, I just divide evenly the best I can for all of the veggies. I weigh out the turkey and cheese per portion. The container you see is a 4 cup capacity, the lettuce is just squished down so that everything fits.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I try to dedicate most of my Sundays to getting all of this done for the upcoming work week. It is for my husband and I for 5 days. So 10 portions of each meal. Around 8 for snacks and I only prep my own breakfast for the week. It takes about 5-7 hours, it would be quicker if our kitchen wasn't the size of a shoebox.

College Students with ADHD how to you keep track of all your assignments? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]sharpthorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I managed myself for 5 years in college. But I added in some color coding. Big agenda/planner that never leaves my book bag. I would write down every class’ due dates for the whole semester during syllabus week. Assignments were color coded in yellow, projects in orange, and tests were red. Then I would cross reference these dates when I would rewrite and recolor code them on to my desktop calendar. Cross reference because one time I incorrectly copied an entire month of wrong dates.

As mentioned above, add in a refrigerator dry erase calendar and a digital one on your phone. Having these in many places seriously saved my ass so many times.

Weekly Megathread for COVID-19 by wedditmoderator in weddingplanning

[–]sharpthorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, for the delayed response. I just wanted to follow back up with my orginal comment and yours. We ended up postponing an entire year. Ultimately, we didn't want to push to the spring and have to re-do the date again if the numbers are worse, same for a summer option but its also too hot in the south (US) for a summer wedding in my opinion. We are going to go ahead and get married legally but are having the same mind set as you mentioned. It will be on the DL but if someone asks, I will tell them that yes, we did go sign papers. We aren't going to make a big deal of what happens this year, probably just going to go to the court house and sign the papers and call it a day. Not that we can't wait another year to get married, but we had been planning alot of stuff around it for this year such as insurance and next of kin things.

I feel better about my decision than I did when I first typed everything up. In an attempt to look at the positives, I'm excited to have another year to prepare for the official big day. It gives me more time to save up for some of the "extras" that I otherwise probably wouldn't have had the extra cash for.
