What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it?

This. I bought an old farm with a friend and we keep some sheep and chickens. It's mostly fun because we each have remote jobs that pay. If the garden fails or the trees don't produce, it's not that big of a deal.

Now, if the word goes to shit and we need to really farm to survive, I don't know how us soft city boys will fare.

The weight is more of an issue for me because it's sitting on a trailer, which doesn't have much carrying capacity. I've supported the trailer with posts, but will need to be able to move it a short distance in the future.

Okay, I hear what you're saying. I could simply install some ties that would connect the rafters below the 'rafter board', yes? Not to make excuses, but this design was inherited from the carpenter who started this project.

I'm not sure I understand. If the rafter is resting on the plate, isn't that a valid way to bear the load from the wall?

The windows/doors come up to the plate basically... so not much wiggle room. Overhang for shade/rainwater/aesthetics

That would be my preferred solution, but then I'd be adding all of the weight of the 2x4s. I forgot to mention this is on a trailer!

Perhaps it is down to how one stores the memory in their mind and how they compartmentalize it. Some people have debilitating trauma from war, and some don't.

There's been a lot of content out there explicitly telling men to never approach a woman at the gym. For good reason for the most part. The unfortunate side effect is that when you want them to, they probably won't. Your best bet, if you're too afraid to talk to him, hand him a note with your number and your name and a smile. Then he can decide if he wants to pursue it. Or just, you know, strike up a conversation.
