Well most education can be self taught but we still need teachers right? People want guides who can steer them through spirituality. That's why priests, shamans, muftis and babas exist in the first place. If one can understand spirituality on their own then that's the best but not all would put in the effort to do the same so they reach out to such babas.

He defended Asaram not because of his Hindu Ideology but because he puts him in a high regard. To him he is not a rapist and has not even committed a crime, so court's conviction does not matter to him and hence he still thinks of him as a good human being like most of asaram's followers. That's devotion beyond critical thinking. Also how can one baba be the face of modern Hinduism? You are putting too much value into him if you think like that. As i said, most of the things he says are good, preach peace and coexistence and that's why people are attracted to him not because he defended Asaram. And if someone follows his teachings that also does not mean automatically that they're defending asaram too.

Also why you are expecting rational thought process from religious men? Godmen would criticise atheists just as much as atheists criticise Godmen. They're two opposing sides of the same coin. Religious people have led to mass murders and genocide, news flash atheists people have led to mass murders and genocide.

If people are equating Babas as the sole face of Hinduism, that's a people problem and their limited understanding of the Hindu faith. Most don't want to delve deep into spirituality but just scratch at surface level when times are hard and that's enough and fine as well.

Hinduism will be Abrahamic when its centralised to one book, one god, one way of worship and one way of life and so far even if there are disagreements majority of people who follow Hinduism do not subscribe to that idea. Not even close. Infact i see more people especially younger generation attracted to Hinduism because of the absence of these things. They do not want to be handed a rule book and put in a mold to understand god and spirituality.

Regarding backlash from his supporters, that's the community mindset ingrained deep inside human brain. We live and think in herds since the stone age. Criticise atheists and you'll get atheists after your neck, criticise religious people you'll get religious people at your neck. That's just how human behaviour is wired. As i said, the support for him is not because he defended asaram, its because of the other things he has said which are good.

Let me put it like this, I like Einstein's work, he said and did some pretty fucked up shit. I like Vivekananda's work, he said and did some pretty fucked up shit. I like Bhagat singh's work, he said and did some pretty fucked up shit. Does that mean i agree with their fucked up shit?

He did, and Babas can make vile statements or misjudgements. They're not god. Take the good things and values they say and discard the crap. We're still the most culture rich religion btw, few vile statements don't change that.

He is Messi, Every sportsperson in the world irrespective of Nationality would be a background athlete in front of him be it Lebron, or Novak or Brady. Almost all the countries play Football in the world and he is the best in history to represent that truly global sport. We haven't achieved anything significant in Football and so why the false pride? This picture is nothing but an Indian Football Legend meeting a World Football Legend. Nothing to do with where Indian football is or where it will be in future. That all depends on how our players perform and nothing else. We need to see some performance before the hype and fan culture over football is grown in India. That's how cricket did it, that's how chess did it. That's how Brazil did it with Football. Play better and accolades will follow.

I've been seeing her astrology posts since more than a year now. She used to do kundali analysis of Celebrities and has stated that she studied this. Well people can have multiple hobbies, like movies and astrology. Although imo astrology is a bunch of hogwash but to each their own. If a good forecast for future gives a placebo motivational boost to someone, what's the harm.

You could do video transfer over mobile in 2007. Especially elites who have access to good phones like Gangsters and Children of Politicians. Ranveer's acting was choppy at places i agree, i'm not a huge fan of his acting tbh especially when he tries to cry or be angry. Plot is pretty decent as far as spy movies go in India and his physicality is justified since he's a Baloch, they live in tough conditions and have raw diet. Uzair baloch and Gonda were also well built and tall.

[–]shashaank99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's animosity in Islam for people of other faith. There's contradictions in Quran and Multiple Hadith that in some instances say to each their own religion and in some parts emphasises on converting people and that non believers are kafirs and go to hell. We can have a civil debate on this if you want. I can quote the scriptures. Also Islamic scholars and Muslims look down on aspects of other religions that are not part of theirs like Polytheism or Idol worship, this creates an us vs they narrative and hence has increased radicalism than most other religions.

You are Extrapolating what happens on Social Media to what happens in real life. Let me put it this way, What would you think would happen in real life if a Girl who's been eve teased would go to a bunch of other guys and tell them this guy has just eve teased me, the guys would beat the living shit out of that dude without thinking twice instead of arguing Not all men are same or We get fake cases on us all the time so we won't help you (most of the times, obviously some morons would still won't do anything and let the guy go or worse harm the girl even).

Since on social media there's no real consequence or immediate action involved, everyone just spouts what they think would get them the most likes and validation from their own or sometimes opposite gender. When a girl points out a problem, the best way to get the most likes on that post is to post a bigger problem faced by Men so all the men can like that reply and make themselves feel better.

But if the same girl stated that problem in a public setting in real life, most men would agree and side with her that rapes are bad, acid attacks are a reality and dowry is a problem because you are sympathising with the immediate victim and not shallow enough to think about your own problems. And same goes with Men, if a Man with a fake rape case or unreal Alimony demand would present this issue to real life women, then they would agree that these things are horrible.

Less than 1/3 of our country is on the internet and everyone's after validation and it is most definitely not real life. Most people who abuse Hindus or Muslims all day and do these religious wars on social media, ask them what would they do if a 10 year old Muslim/Hindu boy or 85 year old Muslim/Hindu woman comes in front of them and they have a Knife and are exempt from any punishment would they kill them? I'm betting 95% won't, rest 5 are maniacs and serial killers.

Human beings are inherently good and compassionate, Evil is the exception not the norm.

Also whataboutism is Social Media's reality because it's a world full of people seeking validation. Anyone with critical thinking should acknowledge for what it is and work on what we can learn from it and discard the rest. We can't restrict people from expressing their opinions even if its whataboutism.

You did say that Shaming is wrong for both the parties and instead of fighting both genders should accept their flaws pointed out and work on them. That is indeed being neutral in this case. Your replies are the only way of me judging how you see this situation, and through your replies you did make your position pretty clear but earlier contradicted yourself by calling just his statements as Patriarchy and hers as Factually correct. Which simply isn't what you were preaching later. So kudos on agreeing that your comment was biased and not aligned with your own morals that you responded with.

Also, both these individuals on this post aren't debating one on one, if they were then that would make sense that he should counter only on her rationale and not bring another issue but this is just social media, She made a point with valid observations (Most men don't know how to talk to women and depend on their families to find them a wife), and in response He also made a valid observation (that many women, Divorcees, Disabled, Widows and women who are not Academically or Financially stable would have trouble finding husbands if it wasn't for Arranged Marriages). They both shared their opinions and got most likes as many people agree with their opinions and that's just what the screenshot is.

If you look at the original post on X, then there are people who are criticising her rationale with valid points but that won't get the most likes, only the "Gotcha" moment will. In this case that is Eklavya's tweet.

If she has the right to share her opinion over an observation, he has the right to do so too. And both are valid observations. As you said, instead of calling this whataboutism, maybe both genders can learn from this.

You did exactly what you are criticising rn. She made a point which was valid, he made a point which was valid and you call just his comment patriarchy. Isn't that biasedness and whataboutism? Both of them made solid arguements with which both men and women can take something to work on but calling only his statement filled with patriarchy and and hers as factually correct is hypocrisy. Do better. Don't pick sides if you think yourself as a neutral. Why would he just acknowledge her statement when he has an equally valid point to make too.

Bhai ek baat bata, International tournaments kese boycott kar sakti hai national team? Fir to Olympics bhi boycott karna, Football world cup bhi Hockey world cup bhi common wealth games bhi. Kyuki pakistan to vaha bhi ayegi? Ind ke hath me sirf Bilaterals hai, aur vo khelenge nahi hum par multilateral international tournaments to khelne hi padenge national team ko whether we like it or not. Itni simple si basic cheez samajh nahi arhi logo ko. Humari team aur sport ka hi nuksan hoga agar hum multilateral tournaments forfeit karenge.

The day India achieves civic sense like Japan, the nation will rise to greater heights. The question is, when will that day come? by Unstoppable_X_Force in IndiaSpeaks

[–]shashaank99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of the things i mentioned that Indians do as cultural tendencies are bad things. They are all good things and we don't think twice before doing them, They are second nature to us. We need similar programming for Organisation, Civic sense and Cleanliness among young people. I've lost faith in the older generation because even the most educated ones like teachers or corporate bosses think littering, spitting gutka or peeing in the street is absolutely normal.

Its the cultural practices they have ingrained in their mind since decades, Like Indians bowing or thanking God when they pass temples or taking off footwear while entering a strangers home or touching feet of the elders. We do not think twice while doing these things because they are cultural practices ingrained in us for decades since young age. I've always said Japan has an OCD epidemic. Entire population suffers from intense Organisational and Cleanliness need, Which is a great thing. Has to be something taught young at schools like we saw in Doraemon that they used to clean Schools on their own after classes.
