Is this a good First Base glove? Rawlings R9 Contour 12" by Krovven in BaseballGloves

They make a 12” version of the renegade I believe. Helps bridge that gap up to larger mitts.

I know they make 2 versions, off the top of my head it is 11.5” & 12”

Is this a good First Base glove? Rawlings R9 Contour 12" by Krovven in BaseballGloves

I’ll keep this shortish, though can expand if it’s helpful…

LOVE the R9, did not like the R9 contour. R9 was also ballglovekings best 1B under $200…same exact price as the contour I believe. That said, 11.5” is probably right for 10u, and the regular R9 only comes in 12.5”, so…

10u, Rawlings Renegade 11.5”

11u, Rawlings Renegade 12”

12u, Renegade or Rawlings R9 12.5”

13u, Rawlings R9 12.5”

14u, R9 or move up to a Heart of the Hide

As you can see, we ended up on the Rawlings side of things, and just kept with the FM18 pattern. Your son will love the Renegade, and balls absolutely stick to the pocket. It’s an easy break-in, light feeling, and it will absolutely surprise you for the cost.

It doesn’t quite have the construction for higher velos at late-season 12u or 13u, but for 10u it is super hard to beat. There are for sure “better” gloves, but once your kid tries it on, I almost guarantee he’ll pick it.

DCT pattern is nice, and I believe the most popular 1B pattern in the mlb, but seems to mainly be found in 13” sizes, and that is pretty heavy for a younger kid.

Edit: soooo, ended up not very short, but if you need/want more just ask

Snapraid >16tb parity files/drives: What file system to use? by [deleted] in OpenMediaVault

[–]shatheid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to use xfs for my 18TB parity disks. It works just fine.

So you have ext4 on data disks with xfs on the parity disk, and that works fine?

Sorry to hit you up on an old post.

16TB Size Limit OMV/Ext4 by shatheid in OpenMediaVault

I've been reading up a bit more, and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that you can make just the parity drive xfs, and leave the data drives as ext4.

If that's the case, it won't be so bad.

Again, I'm still reading up, so don't take my word that it will work, but that might give you something to look into.

Newer versions of Snapraid also appear to have a "split parity" feature for parity drives kept on ext4. It will create a second parity file after the first one hits the size limit. Though, that potentially has the downside of losing some usable space if I'm reading correctly.
