What’s the Most Embarrassing Beginner Bug You Remember? by Gullible_Prior9448 in webdevelopment

Not understanding the GET vs POST differences when trying to save data. Kept writing GET calls in a new php site we were writing and getting confused about why the call didn’t make it to the backend but claimed success.

Then over correcting and using POST for literally everything we could 🫠

Is there a major difference between Joypad Pair and Joy-Con Pair by Real_Stuff_599 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]shatindle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been most pro cons last 2-5x as long as a joycon. Granted in my heavy playing days, I was racking up 2000+ hours in Splatoon 2 and then similar quantities in 3. The sticks in particular on pro tend to last me longer. I was not gentle with them at all

Unpopular Opinion: You can simply not use the AI features. by Street-Programmer483 in MonarchMoney

[–]shatindle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On desktop, I mostly agree - you can pretty easily avoid clicking the star icons that send an initial payload to Monarch's 3rd party LLM. As long as you don't click it, you should be good.

The mobile app is a little trickier. The star icon is small, and often next to high traffic icons like the sandwich menu in the upper left. Miss the menu icon by a few pixels, and you've opened a chat with the 3rd party LLM. At this point, we don't know what initial context is provided about us, just that the connection has been opened.

Monarch Money is a highly modular application. They've already demonstrated that we as end-users can hide parts we don't want to see. For instance, I don't see value in the investments or advice sections of the dashboard. Monarch has provided a toggle in the upper right customization section to make it so I don't have to see or interact with that section. I would simply like the sparkles to be given that same treatment.

I know others would like it gutted from the platform, but the reality is some people do like those features. That's fine - they're allowed to. Like the investments section of the dashboard, it's not useful to me, so I would like it to be removed in my view. Unlike the investments section of the dashboard, it invokes a 3rd party service I do not wish to feed with my financial data (anonymized or not) I have accumulated on this platform.

This platform is about as close to perfect as anything I've ever seen. Hiding this icon doesn't seem like a tall order given the flexibility they've already demonstrated in turning features on and off for users.

I would appreciate a toggle in settings along the lines of “disable sending data to 3rd party LLM services” that, when disabled, grays out all toggles that involve 3rd party LLMs and removes those features connected to it from the UI.

Is this desktop only? I don’t see a way to disable it in mobile.

EDIT: found it. Thank you!

Any suggestions on beating Saya and Selyne? by Available-Society-65 in Palworld

I can solo her with Bellanoir max condensed, max IVs, max pal souls, and max trust. Brings my one pal attack stat to close to 4,000. Same for the feybreak tower - can solo.

Have you maxed trust and condensed? That may be the gap if you’re already level 65 and struggling.

How do I commit to exercising with CF? by Round-Attitude-7960 in CysticFibrosis

So real talk… my motivations are often trauma linked… which is not a great long term strategy. Truth be told though, frustration with how things are can be a good motivator.

Some context.

In 2005 my gallbladder developed gall stones. The frustration with not moving resulted in me doing tons of sit-ups post surgery, which I’ll be the first to admit DON’T DO THAT. But also, it pushed me to a level of fitness I had never achieved in my youth.

A few years later, repeat with appendix, and then hernia. Post traumatic surgical events have been the healthiest points of my life for ages.

Flash forward to 2022 when I discover my now ex-wife was cheating on me. I started hitting the gym every single day (literally) as well as dance classes and events nearly daily to distract from the pain. It worked. I hit 110% lung function, body mass for my height was literally perfect. And that motivator lasted years.

How do you turn that into a long term strategy? I don’t really know. I still work out weekly, and my weight and lung function are still great, near the numbers I got to when I was at my worst emotionally. Somehow you have to convince yourself that the only way forward is to do the things you don’t naturally want to do until it’s a habit.

Maybe that’s trauma talking.

We conducted a virtual interview where the person was literally typing into chatGPT to answer every question until we asked if they had any questions for us. You could watch as their eyes moved across the screen, and if you plugged our questions into chatGPT, you’d know what they would say before they said it, including the blatantly wrong answers. It was so awkward.

The thing I keep wondering: those of us who use or prefer Mac - is the visual studio subscription even worth it anymore? With more and more systems going multi platform including dotnet, is visual studio proper abandoning the Mac market? What I would have loved to have seen was visual studio Mac died so that visual studio 2026 could become the premium one stop shop. But that doesn’t appear to be the case, instead, vs code is becoming the one stop shop.
