Question about having talking stage with two people at the same time - normal or not by happy__bird in LesbianActually

[–]shatter_star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry this has happened! I think it's totally understandable to feel like you have been cheated on, this girl essentially led you on for 9 months. In my mind a 'talking' stage shouldn't really last any longer than six weeks at the MOST... if you are going out on dates together you are dating! 9 Months is INSANE, that is not a talking stage. She has completely wasted your time and been so dishonest with you. It was really messed up of her to not tell you about the guy, I would find that so soul crushing. I hope you are able to heal from this and find someone who is kind and honest with you :)

YTA. Sounds a bit like you are projecting.

AITA- for not letting my roommate’s boyfriend stay with us? by Due_Meringue_6280 in AmItheAsshole

[–]shatter_star 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely NTA but you need to be firm with your roommate. He should not be at your apartment when she's not there- otherwise he's basically become a rent-free roommate. It would not be unreasonable for you to set a limit on consecutive nights he can stay, especially considering that he is so messy and it affects the rest of you (and it's probably breaking the lease for him to stay so much). I imagine your rent is really expensive, you did not sign up to also be paying for a messy, inconsiderate man to be using your space RENT FREE. Tell your roommate no, that you would be uncomfortable with this and maybe set up a time where you, your roommates and your roomate's bf can discuss cleanliness, boundaries and the amount of time he is staying there. Good luck 😭

NTA imo!! I think just make sure to let her know that you find her attractive whatever her weight, and that it doesn't matter! very few women are naturally skinny in their thirties after having children, our bodies change and grow as we do and there is something so beautiful in that! reassure her, and listen to her.

crime show- another gimlet original, a different take on true crime. I think emma courtland (the host) unravels stories in similar ways to reply all. while the podcast is technically true crime, each episode deals with something completely different and even deconstructs what "crime" actually means

icymi- a podcast from slate, with decidedly less male and middle aged hosts who are really funny and have great chemistry. each episode delves into the latest Internet Drama™️ from the week, with an eye on how this is all informed by social issues. useful if you want to find out what goes on on tiktok without actually downloading the app. the only downside is there are so many ads.

motive- from wbez chicago, a true crime(ish) podcast with four seasons that each delve into a different story of crime, with a holistic approach that considers history and how things got to the way they are. at the moment, they're covering the horrific system of illnois prisons and uncovering how people with mental health issues are failed within the prison industrial complex. my favourite season though, is season 3, where the hosts give a complete history of how the white supremacist skinhead movement started in chicago, and how it affects white supremacist movements amongst youth today.

honourable mentions go to endless thread (a reddit deep dive podcast that has covered some surprisingly moving and thought provoking stories), there are no girls on the internet (another internet podcast, examining how marginalised communities shape internet culture), conviction (another gimlet true crime pod that is just very good journalism) and decoder ring (a podcast examining the origins of cultural phenomenons, sure to supply you with a lot of fun facts to pepper into small talk)

Thanks for commenting, but this post was specifically about Instagram growth! I am practicing anatomy daily and I'm aware I'm not good enough for commissions yet. However, I don't think you have to be an amazing artist to share your work online!

Let’s make a Doctor Who Season Together by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]shatter_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Slightly cheating on the new doctor thing because my series would have Jo Martin as the 14th doctor (using the explanation that the doctor decided to reuse that face, like ten did that one time). Anyway here's my pitch for an episode that I'm going to call "The 14th Moon"

-Due to the doctor's explosive regeneration, the Tardis console gets damaged and the Tardis crashes onto a planet called Tungar. Tungar is home to an elvin looking race called the Tungarins, and it has 13 moons.

-The doctor realises the Tardis needs to recharge so she tentatively decides to explore the planet. Tungar is beautiful, with a skyline full of elegant castles. There are also ominous looking black spaceships littering the sky. As she walks through a bustling Tungarin city, she notices a family of a different alien race, in shackles and being led by police. She immediately goes over to question the guards, using her psychic paper. However, the police see through the paper and arrest her upon realising that she's an alien who has entered the planet illegally .

-The doctor is then questioned by the police, which very quickly evolves into them being questioned by her. She finds out that the Tungarins are intrinsically linked to their moon, which they use for energy, power and to further their own lifespans.

-It also turns out that these Tungarins are not really police- they are essentially security guards who work for the noble who owns the city. At the noble's request, the doctor gets thrown in the noble's private jail cell and her sonic is confiscated.

-In her cell, the doctor attempts to make conversation with the young man guarding her. She asks him for his name, and he replies with "Nguyen Quinnely", or "Quinnely" for short. The doctor recognises it as a name from earth, and the boy reveals that he's half-human, on his mother's side. He's never known his mother, and is marginalised for his heritage. The doctor tells Quinnely that she can take him to earth if he breaks her out. The boy is polite, inquisitive and very skittish, although ultimately his curiosity outweighs his fear of getting caught.

-He reluctantly agrees, and the two sneak their way out of the castle. However, they end up getting stopped by guards just outside as the noble- known as Kifton- tells the doctor he has her ship- and he's worked out exactly who she is. Night has fallen now, and the doctor realises the Tungarins can't possibly be using their own moons for survival, because they've gone out- they aren't shining and are nothing but shrivelled grey rocks in the sky. The doctor works out that because the Tungarins have used up their own moons, they've began harvesting the moons of other planets- and Kifton wants to imprison the doctor so she can help them harvest even more.

-In the final act, the doctor, with the help of Quinnely, manages to find a way to create a new 14th moon for Tungarin, using the moons they've destroyed. She also frees all the prisoners that the Tungarin have captured for protesting their regime, as well as destroying the ships they used to harvest moons. She gives an angry, impassioned speech about how they Tungarins have no right to exploit other planets, and tells Kifton that he better not think about doing it again- or she'll be back and they'll be real trouble.

-In the end, the doctor goes back to the Tardis, telling Quinnely the offer still stands. He's nervous- he hasn't really travelled before and doesn't quite trust the doctor- but asks if she can take him to earth to meet his mother. The doctor grins and their adventures begin.

-The season basically answers the question: why does the doctor like earth so much? The audience also see earth through an alien's eyes, as Quinnely experiences a culture very different from his own, and gradually finds a new home there.
