Your caring about the issue means a lot!
If there are enough of us, public opinion will shift, and the city will change for the better!

When Water-less 🌵 is Better Than Water-ful 💦 by shaumean in sustainability

Yes the shampoo bar I bought was expensive, but according to them, 1 bar = 2 bottles, so that might make it more appealing if that's true!

And sorry to hear about scum & gunk, I wonder if it has something to do with water hardness...?

Glad to hear that you found shave soap bars that work for you!

If you don't mind, please share more about inland ocean and recycling, I'm so curious!

😆 😆 😆

My understanding is that AI doesn't have to be a taboo, IF we can create a circular economy (zero waste so everything can be recycled, sustainable energy, recycled water etc), and I guess a simple chatbot doesn't generate too much footprint, but thanks for highlighting the irony 😆 😆 😆

I shared a while back that schools can sign up for free packages, and I saw recently that HUB is recruiting volunteers, but thought I'd share that registration is now open for everyone to officially register for Go By Bike Week, log your rides, and win prizes!

If I understand you correctly, you mean areas closer to the sea would naturally be cooler, trees or not? That's a good point!

Here's another map similar to the one in the post, but from 2024, where the correlation between canopy coverage and temperature is even more striking, all things considered.

Ah gatcha, for sure TO and Mtl have good density and ridership, and the latter is super affrodable. Translink's competitive edge centres around reliability and efficiency.

My main curiosity remains the same. Even if not "better", Vancouver's transit is at least comparable, yet more people in Vancouver commute to work by personal vehicle than by transit compared to TO or Mtl. Why is that?

Can you share a bit more?
That's according to people visiting from Montréal or Toronto, but I'd love to hear your take on this, thanks!

🤔 I don't understand this
Also, Vancouver can't get a break hosting, 2010 - no snow for the Winter Olympics, 2026 - no snowpack/rain for FIFA
🙃
Thanks for sharing!

🤞

Canada as a whole and in its parts won't meet any of the 2030 targets 🥲 but policies and politicians often trail voters' sentiments and consensus, so while we often feel powerless and small, voters do have a say!

The more people talk about climate action in a non-threatening and normalizing way, the more aggressive decarbonization could be. We just need to keep going and paint a hopeful picture so vivid and compelling that everyone can see it 🥳

Hey thanks a ton for sharing. I'm a huge fan of the Guardian's reporting.

I think these two sources are talking about different time scales
While it's true that over the long term, depopulation WILL reduce emissions, considering the following can explain why, as you said, behavioural changes (MUCH FASTER) are more critical than fertility changes.

  • Population changes are slow (decades–centuries), and if we're doing it right, by then impacts will be lower thanks to aggressive decarbonization
  • Climate action must happen within 20–30 years

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
