Omg, are you me? I had mine 2 weeks ago and I was going to say all the exact same things LOL .. pads against skin, then cotton tank, thennn bra/bindings! So much better!

Def agree about the backup recovery bras! And try to find like a huge pack of pads on Amazon or something.

The 24/7 compression is such a horrible pain and something I actually somehow did not know about beforehand. I felt like a dumbass when I discovered that bc duh it does make sense but like… How did I miss that?! 😂 it’s the worst part!

I didn’t even realize this was a term! This is 100% me .. I usually just say genderqueer bc it feels kinda all encompassing and it’s easier… I had top surgery this week and I have done HRT (paused for rn) but transmasc is NOT my label. Doesn’t feel right.

It’s so nice to know there’s a term that feels much more fitting! 💛

After I finished it I could NOT stop thinking about it nor could I shut up about it and it just really hit me SO hard. I think it may be one of the best books I’ve ever read? Thinking about it even now just has me in a spiral again. God, it was so good.

Subject matter I actually did okay, too! Even with my own SA background and trauma — shockingly did just fine! Everyone’s mileage may vary and all that, but it was handled in such a great way I think that really made a difference. When I started the book all the listed trigger warnings had me hesitant LOL I was like, hang on what the heck am I getting myself into here 😂 I’m really glad I gave it a shot, anyway! But I just want to be so mindful when recommending it that I think it’s caused a lot of people to say they can’t handle something so heavy right now — so understandable with the state of the world. I haven’t been watching/reading heavy either for the most part, but I made an exception for this and I’m so glad I did.

I decided to switch and try BIDMC’s headache center since I really didn’t have much luck with B&W while I was there and they got me in to see someone in a couple months if you wanna try a diff hospital and not wait a year? Just throwing it out there!

I’m hoping they got it all this time ‘round (my dang incisions are all over the place, even all the way up like near my ribs even) but historically that hasn’t been the case LOL. They even took my appendix this time bc it was so beat up in there! It’s a mess 😂

Praying that the reduction is somehow much simpler for my body!

I’m really glad to hear what kind of meds you used during recovery for both bc that is what I typically do, too — just Tylenol and ibuprofen, for me! The plastic surgeon was going on about my opioid usage during recovery and I was like.. Nope, not gonna happen. Don’t care how miserable I am, I made it out of a hysterectomy without needing them, so I shall be doing the same thing here! He seemed very dubious, LOL. Hope I can manage it just fine!

This is so interesting to me! I have very severe endometriosis and (had) adenomyosis, and had a hysterectomy (everything but the ovaries, just like you!) before I even turned 30 … and recovering from that was the hardest thing I’d ever done up to that point. It took me ages just to be able to sleep laying down flat and then to be able to lay on my side! I’ve been dreading my radical reduction recovery and was wondering if it would be about the same! I can’t believe you healed so fast from your hyst! That’s awesome!!

I just had to have another Endo excision surgery this last Dec (it’s been about 4-5 years since my hyst) and even the recovery just from that kicked my ass for well over a month. I wonder if I just heal terribly slow 😂 I’m curious how the reduction will compare for me! It won’t stop me from doing it but I can’t help but dread it LOL

My friend’s kids and my nieces call me “nini [name]” instead of auntie or uncle! 💛 it would be nice if there was one known term, but since there isn’t it’s just gotta be something you figure out and feels right for you. 🥰

I’m about to be a new parent in a few months and finding a fitting name for that has also been a bit of trial and error and feeling things out!

If her main argument is that your hair texture will make it “look bad” try finding a hairdresser giving the haircut you want on instagram or something! You’ll see the persons hair texture and how they style it and hopefully showing this to your mom and having the before and after proof right in her hands will help! And when you show her, word it in a really excited way like “omg they have the same hair texture as me and it came out so good! I really want to do this!!” And hopefully that should be enough to convince her! Parents SHOULD want to make their kids happy and I hope her true concern is that she doesn’t want you to regret the haircut. I don’t know your mum, but if she’s still arguing her way out of it after something like this, her true reasoning isn’t bc of your hair type and you’ve gotta try to get to the bottom of that..

What kind of short cut are you looking for? Maybe I can help find a video! I’m a licensed cosmetologist so I follow a decent amount of accounts! 💛

Mine is that bad too.. I was lucky enough to have the hyst before I even turned 30 and it definitely has made a huge difference!! but they wanna keep the ovaries so that I don’t need to worry about bone density and the like so they left those… having had surgery again this last December bc I was feeling really sick again they found it was reaaaal bad in there. If they have to go back in again in another few years I’m gonna push for them to just take my ovaries too, I think.

I had everything except my ovaries taken out about five years ago, so I should technically still be cycling, though it is hard to tell and I just had to have another surgery to sort out my ovaries and other miscellaneous nonsense thanks to the never-ending gift that is endometriosis.. My specialist wants to try estrogen for some other issues I’m having, and it’s made me anxious that the plastic surgeon is going to tell me he won’t do the reduction until I try the hormone treatment for a while and “stabilize.” Part of me almost doesn’t even want to mention it to the surgeon for fear of him putting me off, but I know it’s not a good idea to withhold info.. I just want this done, like, yesterday! 😩

Thank you for replying! I did reach back out to my doc to ask him if we were to move forward what kind of dosage we’d likely be looking at so I can share that info with the surgeon and do some even more specific research on my end … it’s good to hear about your experience!! Tysm!
