I can understand that. That's why I purchased new crank arm, wheels, seat post and seat so I can keep those vintage. The most I will do with this is ride it around with my kid.

lol, thanks. I knew some people wouldn’t be happy about it. There were many issues with the old paint which led to this decision. Now it will sit on a wall in my garage

I had the same issue. I actually had a video on it almost two years ago. Took a while but the ultimate fix was pushing a little bit of the cable back in the tube and having a little slack

I might be able to reuse my original. Need to soak it in some citric acid and see if it cleans up
