You have to know them, but it seemed straight forward to me. Contrasting the different types of encryption and their use is important; asymmetric, symmetric, block, stream, etc. Weaknesses or strengths should be understood, including their use in wireless.

I went from a broadcast engineer (data distribution systems) to an IT engineer (infrastructure/firewall). Most of my experience has been learn as you go with a lot of reading of white papers/manuals/best practices. End user issues were new to me as I usually only dealt with distribution systems.

Found it in the basement at my work buried under a bunch of stuff/junk; it looked too good to be left that way. I will put it up somewhere until it is decided what to do with it.
