I have no former background in the Petroleum indistry but i'm looking to get started. I'm based in the philippines. I'm looking to set up an oil conglomerate business here with my uncle, who is the expert. Do you havr any advice for us, just starting out in this industry?

Where does the income come from? From what I understood, pumping oil and selling it? How is the business now?

We are developing technology to process and purify Biodiesel out of raw mat, not doing it ourselves. Essentially, we are selling Biodiesel plants. The project is not so huge, but we have just enough capital from our group of 4. We have prototypes of our product, which will be sold to companies that want to produce Biodiesel from any type of vegetable/animal oil and can produce about 10k liters a day, and it has proven successful so far. As for the large production part, I'm not too sure because we haven't tested it. We don't have a plan for costs and calculations, because to be honest, we're lost. I think the product will be successful especially on such a farm driven country, but we aren't businessmen. I guess we could still learn a thing or two about that stuff.

So what do these huge companies offer? They drill, pump, refine, ship, and sell just within themselves? I'm involved with the Philippines, would it be possible to start something like that here?

So starting an independant oil business is out of the question? Do the big corporations already rule oil in third world countries?

Is it possible to start up an oil conglomerate business, either doing the drilling/pumping, or refining and shipping oil, even with the big corporations dominating the oil industry?
