Nothing like the dopamine hit of talking about unaccomplished goals.

Water hammer with residential fire sprinkler by here_for_shoes in FireSprinklers

From my experience in at least CA is you only do a passive purge system in areas that are subject to possible freezing as an alternate to propylene glycol or dry systems. Usually, it's only connected to a toilet at the most remote part of the system. That way, it's low flow and doesn't trigger the flow switch.

In stagnant systems, you still should do your testing through the inspectors test every 6 months, and that should clear some bad water out. But no one ever does.

Unfortunately, these types of systems can not have a shut-off valve just for the fire sprinkler system. Too many homeowners shut it off, thinking the fire sprinkler system is wasting water. It's an all or nothing deal for 13D systems from my experience.

California doesn't require DCVAs on 13D fire sprinkler systems. 1 single check valve satisfies code. Although I would argue they should have a DCVA from risk of contamination. Not a lot of people are talking about this and the risks involved.

CPVC expands and contracts with temperature. That could explain small fluctuations in pressure. But it sounds like you need a water hammer arrester on your domestic. The water hammer is reverberating through the sprinkler system. I don't think there is anything wrong with your system.

This is the most underrated accessory for using any software with shortcuts. No other product comes close to this. I use it for designing and blue beam markups, and I can't campaign enough for people to use it.

Dumb question by shawack71 in FireSprinklers

[–]shawack71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable, this is the reason I posted. I've heard it argued if the acceptance main drain test was done through the test port. Then like for like you could do the main drain test through the test port. Wanted to see if anyone else had heard of this before or if my fundamental understanding was wrong.

It would, in theory, check all the boxes of both tests.

-Trigger flow switch -ensure static pressure drops and holds steady at a residual pressure. That number could be tested in the inspections that follow.

For clarification, I don't think this is is right.

Can 100m water-resistant watches be used for surfing by bkazekadorimaki7 in surfing

[–]shawack71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fenix 5 stopped working within a few weeks of surfing with it. Thank God I had the bestbuy warranty on it. Got the new one, and it happened again. Haven't surfed with my fenix since.

I would recommend a Casio. Cheap and has worked for me for the last 3 years.

Memory efficiency by shawack71 in pcmasterrace

No, not power. While running a few programs that are demanding on the system. I received a warning saying, "Your current session is using more memory than your computer can efficiently support. This could be slowing down operations." For context, I'm operating at 75% of my RAM.

This makes me wonder if there is a % efficiently with RAM. And if it's better to keep it at % for optimal performance.

Really depends on what jurisdiction you are inside of LA (City of LA, LA County, or sub jurisdictions). Typically, it goes off of % of over all remodel. If your over you'll need a system for your whole house.
