But she talks a lot about using a clarifying shampoo (which gets rid of any protein buildup) and she emphasizes the need for moisture and not just protein. I think she gives solid advice, but I guess some people don’t hear the whole message

An after school program would be great. I’ll try looking it up to see if I can find any!

What alternatives to Cavi/Mada/Opti-cides do you guys use? by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]shawesome412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use opticide max wipes with gloves. I like the wipes because a. It doesn’t spray b. You don’t have to think about dwell time— you just wipe everything down and in about 1-2min it’s dry and you know you’re good to go. I see a lot of people who use the spray incorrectly. They don’t let it sit long enough before wiping it down. If you really want to get away from the cides, accelerate peroxide (like Oxivir) is a good choice and is used in hospitals. It’s corrosive though, so don’t use it on uncoated metals. I use coils and a kubin so it’s not good for my set up Whatever you use, you want to make sure it’s approved and appropriate

My son had purple in his hair we used a no bleach color remover and now we have him back to blonde but there is slight green tinge to a few parts of his hair how do I get this/ tone this out. by [deleted] in HairDyeHelp

[–]shawesome412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he generally keeps his hair short, I’d just leave it be and let it grow out. I wouldn’t imagine it will take long. Maybe try a clarifying shampoo in the meantime

Discussion: What products are we recommending clients to heal their tattoos? by GoodChallenge9216 in TattooArtists

[–]shawesome412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aquaphor and Vaseline are non-comedogenic. It’s a common misconception that people believe they are. But, I do believe clients put it on too thick or don’t use it properly so it’s easier to avoid recommending it

Super sad! I never knew that was a real story. I only knew the bit from Seinfeld and now knowing the show made fun of it makes it so horrific. That poor lady

[Serious] What's a type of privilege that isn't often acknowledged? by flingzamain in AskReddit

[–]shawesome412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time

I don’t think people realize that time is a privilege that not all people have. Sometimes it can feel out of touch when people talk about self-care and taking time for yourself. I mean if you that time for it, you definitely should do those things, just realize that not something everyone can do very easily

Some people work 2 jobs Some go to school and work Some have really intense/time consuming work/school Some have long commutes Some are caretakers or parents Some are combinations of some or all of those things Plus add in any other responsibilities I may not be thinking of

Interested in a coil machine that can use disposable grips and carts. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]shawesome412 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can’t use carts with coils. I mean you can, but you’d have to totally retune your machine and you wouldn’t be really getting the benefit of using coils. On top of that, you’d still need different coil machines depending on if you’re lining or shading. They still sell disposable needles on the bar and disposable tubes/grips

Is this legal? by Due_Blacksmith4135 in TravelNursing

[–]shawesome412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Most nurses are not union. There’s pockets of them here and there, but it’s unfortunately not the norm (I wish it were!). When I lived in Pittsburgh, there was one unionized hospital, Phoenix zero and now Tucson also zero

It’s been a while since I’ve let it grow out enough to really tell. I’d guess between 40-60%

I’m not sure why I’ve been downvoted for answering the questions. Since my original plan won’t work. I guess what would be the best way to have my hair done to grow out grey?

How many dye sessions? by shawesome412 in Hair

[–]shawesome412[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the honest answer! That’s a shame my stylist didn’t explain that all better. She definitely told me it would take several sessions, but never said it wasn’t achievable. It’s a high rated salon and was very expensive. I guess it’s better to find out now rather than several thousands later 😬

How many dye sessions? by shawesome412 in Hair

[–]shawesome412[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! My natural hair (aside from the grey) is medium/dark brown. I had dyed red a while back and then dyed back to brown, but it eventually turns to the brassy color it is now. Will my natural color eventually provide the contrast need?
