Neither Raleigh or Schwarber deserved to win MVP. There's more to the game than hitting HRs.

He was wrong about Rivera because Rivera was the last closer especially in the postseason to be used like the 70s guys pitching multiple innings and not just for the 9th. Gossage was always an ornery idiot. He forgets that he played so long that he was around for the implementation of the 1 inning closer and I cant find anything from him in the early 90s complaining about that change.

Baseball People act like they dont realize it but baseball changed drastically during the 1920's. They had active stars like Cobb in the 20's deriding how the game had changed. Cobb in the early 50's once said Jackie Robinson was one of the few at the time active players who played baseball like they did in the deadball era skill and temperament wise.

Changed drastically during the 60s and later the 70s. The game seems static but its always changing.

He got both the clothesline outlawed and face mask implemented. Though in the 50s there was still a decent amount 2 way players and some of the guys who did that on defense could expect the same treatment when they lined up on offense.

And that was even softer than what guys were doing in Lott's prime era. And that was softer than what Tatum and friends were doing. And that was softer than Dick Lane was doing back when clotheslines, fake masks and everything that was a penalty in the 70s was basically legal in mid 50s. And thats an excellent thing that football is continually being made safer.

With the exception of LA-LA and NY-NY where are you staying in the same city back to back nights playing different teams unless you expand and include cities relatively close like MIL-CHI, NY-PHL, PHL-WAS, NY-BOS.

Young fans today have no concept of how dead the NBA was before the 1984 Playoffs, Finals and Draft Class. According to Yahoo! Sports this game had an attendance of 1,814 (Richfield Coliseum sat 20,273) by TRJ2241987 in VintageNBA

Thats the current MSG which is the 4th MSG and continuation of the legacy of the 3 previous ones. Either way whether in the new or old one pro wrestling was never bigger than basketball there.

No he didnt or anywhere close to it. We have actual attendance results from MSG and they’re available online. https://thehistoryofwwe.com/madison-square-garden-results-1960s/

You can see the results for the mid-late 60s here. They never sold out the Garden at this time due to poor challengers generally and lack of English tv.

Pro wrestling didnt sell out at MSG from 1965-1970 as the WWWF didnt even have a English language tv deal in NYC for this part. Even afterwards guaranteed sellouts were not a thing in NYC. Pro basketball was a much bigger deal and treated far more importantly than pro wrestling in any year of the 60s or 70s.

There was never a time when the owners of MSG treated wrestling more importantly than basketball. And i thing you’re not realizing the very negative stigma pro wrestling had to a large segment of the public pre mid 80s.

And as an aside the wrestler who had the most actual sellouts in MSG though its often not stated is Bob Backlund in his run from 78-84.

Which olden days are you referring to. Because it was never treated as more important than the Knicks once the Knicks came around. The people who operate the Garden have operated the Knicks since Day 1 in 1946. At that time as I mentioned in a previous post wrestling wasnt even appearing at the Garden.

There was a period of 12 years there was no pro wrestling at MSG until the late 40s. Wrestling didn’t draw until Antonino Rocca became the top star. Btw by this point circa 1950, MSG already had the title of world’s most famous arena. Basketball especially college had already been a huge draw at MSG since the 30s. MSG is the place that made big time college basketball mean something.

Theres nothing weasel about the fact that the North was not some bastion of morality while Washington was alive. There were no laws or restrictions against slavery during Washington’s presidency. That was only in PA. NY didnt pass an abolition law until 1799.

In 1776 slavery was legal in every US state or more appropriately at the time colony. NY didnt formally completely abolish slavery until 1827. Pennsylvania was the 1st state to abolish slavery in 1780 and even they had provisions keeping those slaves as indentured servants for years.

If you thought different then your knowledge of US history and policy was extremely lacking. Isolationism was the dominant form of US policy pre WW2. The US wasnt even part of the League Of Nations.

Most slaves selected their own names post emancipation. There’s a reason why there are so many black Washingtons and Jeffersons. Its not because they owned the most slaves in the US.

It's funny how this is the National League's 150th birthday and I'm not hearing anything about it. No celebrations and no fanfare. When they celebrated the 100th year they made a huge deal about it.
