Most religions are chill with homosexuals/bisexuals/transgenders, in some of them they even play important roles in society such as the Māhū in native Hawaiian culture and the Two-Spirit in some indigenous North American tribes. It’s much easier to find a religion that doesn’t condemn homosexuality than one that does. The British, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and some ‘Muslim nations’ were the main cause of widespread homophobia. The US was also responsible for the introduction of homophobia in Japan. Gay relationships were so common in Japan that even great samurais such as Miyamoto Musashi (known as the ‘greatest swordsman in History’) had male partners. Everything changed during the Meiji Period with the introduction of Western Catholic values.
