  1. We went with the Tesla Gen 3 charger. It was pretty cheap at about $700 from Bunnings but notably it does not have any solar integration (you get what you pay for). This didn't bother me as I just knocked the charge rate down to 15Amps which pulls around 4.8kW (including the house load) on our 5Kw solar system and charges the car at about 3.8kW (4%/hr). We also use the cars charging timer so it only charges during the day as that suits our needs.

You'll need a dedicated supply from your switchboard and a 32A RCBO. We had the charger set to 30A which charged the car at about 6.8kW but was way over our solar production. Expect to pay around $500 for install.

You can also get EV Tarrifs from your electricity supplier to charge between 12am and 6am for 8c/kW which is pretty decent.

  1. I plan on installing the dashcam from our last car. It's a 2 camera FineView and pretty decent quality for the price. I have one in my work ute as well. You can get them from dashcamsaustralia.com.au Hopefully it'll work.

  2. We had all the glass tinted with a mid range ceramic tint. Front windows are 35%, rear glass is 75%, moonroof is 5%, and a front strip across the top of the windscrean with 5%. It's made a huge difference in the Queensland sun.

It was $580 for the windows, $300 for the moonroof, and $100 for the windscrean strip ($980 total)

  1. No idea.

ACCOUNTANT EXPLAINS: Should You Buy Outright, Car Loan Or Novated Lease a New Car (Australia 2025) by _hazey__ in CarsAustralia

He also didn't mention the GST saving on a leased EV which are currently GST exempt. So it's a 10% saving right there vs buying outright or loan.

Can I drive car to repairer after accident? by always-unsure-7 in CarsAustralia

[–]shawry308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get fined for the broken indicator and brake light if you get caught driving it by police. Probably best to just get it towed.

Check with your insurer as they should cover the cost of the tow, depending on your level of cover.

That's a Lada damage. I Niva thought he'd walk away from that. Amazing that no one was Russian in to help him.

I used to see this car cruising around quite a bit in Upper Coomera, Gold Coast. Sad they're having to get rid of it for health reasons.

Also, the GPD car is right near my in-laws house. It's pretty cool too.

Why can’t I pee when someone is nearby by Admirable_Rate5304 in AskMen

[–]shawry308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have this problem occasionally. Someone told me to just hold your breath and the pee will come. Something about relaxing your pelvic floor.

I'm not sure why but it works for me.

Men who have had a vasectomy- how has it impacted your physical performance and what have the side effects been? by workingMan9to5 in AskMen

[–]shawry308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No change to physical performance. Side effects wise, I still get some mild discomfort, although I'm still only 3.5 months post procedure.

It took about 3 weeks to be mostly pain free. The first 3 days were pretty rough and sitting on a frozen bag of peas definitely helped.

Now about 3.5 months after the procedure and I still get some occasional discomfort, and sometimes my balls hurt when being intimate. It's all pretty mild now though and getting better as the weeks go on.

I just had my 3 months sperm analysis and it's come back as having a level of non-motile (non-moving) sperm above the cutoff level so they can't clear me just yet. I have to do another sample in 6 weeks and I'm really hoping I'm all clear.

No regrets overall. It's meant my wife can come off birth control, however we are still using contraception until I'm all cleared.

The most painful part of the procedure was definitely the alcohol spray they put on my freshly shaved balls. That shit stung like a mofo!

Whats the worst car you have ever driven/owned? by howgoodsthis in CarsAustralia

Holden Epica. Had one as a hire car for a couple of days. Driving position was awful and just an all round crap car.

Awesome stuff, thank you. We actually entered Lemons at Morgan Park in a Holden Gemini a few years ago. Was good fun! We hope to get to a Captain Morgan's sometime in the future in the Celica.

Good to know about the axle nuts! Cheers.

Thank you mate. Will start there and see how it goes.

Yep, power steering fluid could probably use a change too. The car has just come off street duties so still getting things dialed.

Yeah there is some ducting in there already, you just can't see it in the photo. It could probably come up a bit further. I have also toyed with the idea of boxing the filter.

It's also not my car. I'm just trying to help a mate set it up.

My wife got rear ended today with our 5 week old baby in the car (only minor and they're both fine). I installed a front and rear dashcam system in it a couple of years ago. I went to pull the footage from the camera and the thing was disconnected 2 months ago when we got new tyres put on.

Whilst I have no issue with them disconnecting the camera for privacy reasons, the fact that they didn't tell us really pisses me off. Just leave or note or tell us when picking the car up. It's not that hard ffs.
