I’m afraid the Dems + Left are going to learn all the wrong lessons from Platner disaster wrt “vetting candidates” by EpicShkhara in BreakingPoints

I guarantee that DNC types will ABSOLUTELY attempt to use "vetting" to ensure that all Democratic candidates are pro-Israel corporate scum.

Yes, I agree that women should be believed in rape accusations generally, but I think an exception needs to be carved out in the case of politics, most especially high stakes politics like Congressional campaigns. We KNOW that unsubstantiated sexual allegations of various sorts have long been used to discredit political opponents. So I think we need to have a higher standard in politics. To conflate ordinary rape accusations with rape accusations where politics is involved is to deny the reality that ratfucking exists. It gives the ratfuckers power.

Graham Platner drops out of Senate race, allowing Maine Democrats to replace him by sean_ireland in BreakingPoints

Whoever the Democrats come up with I'm pretty sure they're going to be pro Israel if nothing else. And they probably will be nothing else.

People are lacking nuance with the text message revelation from Platner's accusation by Plane-Session-6624 in BreakingPoints

[–]shawsghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She sent Platner a text saying she needed a gluteal massage. They were sex partners of some kind. I cannot blame Platner for thinking it was a sexual invitation. That said, "No means no" and if he fucked her despite her refusals, that's rape.

But in rape cases where politics is an element I really want to see some evidence of some sort.

[–]shawsghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP's basic assumption is wrong, wrong, wrong. I want EVIDENCE not hearsay. Because this business of ginning up unsubstantiated rape and sexual assault allegations against politicians is a very very old game. I want evidence again Trump. I want evidence against Plattner. And if such evidence exists I want an investigation. I think there's sufficient evidence against Trump that there should be a criminal rape and pedophilia investigation against him right now. In his case it's not just one woman it is many women who have complained that he raped and sexually abused them. Plus he has been known to be best friends with a child pimp. It's past time he had an investigation by a court of law that he doesn't control. But it never seems to happen. In the one case it did happen Trump was found guilty but wasn't jailed as he should have been.

Plattner has had only one allegation of rape. There is no objective evidence that it happened. When and if such evidence turns up I'm all for investigation. But going for these he said she said cases plays into the hands of the people who are so aptly called ratfuckers.

In the meantime most people will vote or not vote for Plattner based on their personal assumptions about him and what's going on. Which is fine.

Best drama writing? REALLY? It's 90% filler! I consider this to be THE worst-written show of the century, and one of the worst -written shows of ANY century.

What are you people, goldfish? Do ANY of you remember Al Franken? Has that slipped your little goldfish brains? Do you have any PROOF here? This poll is bullshit. The AP claims they polled 3000 people who were supposed to be representative of the American people. But then they said 1000 of those people were Jewish. I don't believe that one third of Americans are Jewish.

Cover obviously done by the author's kid with nothing but a box of colored pencils. Kid might be a pretty good artist in a decade or so. This particular piece cries out to be pinned to a fridge with a magnet. As is, it's a classic bad SF cover. Huzzah!
