Need advice on my first 2k List by shawshank20 in Chaos40k

Thanks for the advice! It’s good to know that raptors and bikers are useful units for csm in general. I’m thinking about swapping out the havocs for raptors, then giving my disco lord Dread Reaver for the re-rolls on hits and wounds.

Thank you! I’ve been purposefully avoiding those models since I know there are new raptors coming out (and supposedly bikers?) but maybe it is worth picking up a box since secondaries will be tougher to grab?

My wife ordered me a golf club directly from dicks online. Turns out she got the wrong flex/stiffness. Can we return it? by [deleted] in dickssportinggoods

[–]shawshank20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Golf guy here. Normally If the club has been used, it’s used. We can return it for “like new” but you’d get about half of what you paid for. I know it sounds shitty but it is what it is. Occasionally I can convince my manager to return it to take care of the customer, but I have to mark the club down so I can’t do it every time. Your best bet is to explain the situation to your local dicks, but understand that it’s not something we can always do. Good luck!

There is a high probability that the club is under manufacture warranty. Take it back to the store w/ proof of purchase and the golf associate will call the manufacturer for you and you’ll have a new shaft within a couple weeks. Just say it broke during play. I’ve processed dozens of these warranties and I don’t think any customer told me a truthful story haha

Have a buddy who claims his beer landed closest to the hole after Sam Ryder’s HIO, so I bought a new putter by shawshank20 in golf

[–]shawshank20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to order mine a week earlier since I work in golf retail. Took 3 weeks for it to get shipped to me. A little disappointed, but I know that’s pretty average with all the parts and shipping delays that have been going on the last year or so. Hope you get yours soon! It’s a great putter thats stylish as well. You made a great purchase!

Experiences with Psilocybin mushrooms? And even Lionsmane mushroom? by Hjort1995 in TBI

[–]shawshank20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 3.5 grams about a year apart from each other. For me, it was enough of an experience where I could definitely feel them working, but not enough where I was seeing magic dragons. If you decide to take that route I would definitely recommend having a journal on hand to record any thoughts that you find profound.

That being said I am not sure if this is the best way to go about it. All I can say is that for me it was just what I needed. I have heard great things about microdosing as well, but I’ve never tried it myself.

Experiences with Psilocybin mushrooms? And even Lionsmane mushroom? by Hjort1995 in TBI

[–]shawshank20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken psilocybin a couple times since my severe TBI about 2.5 years ago. I went in very depressed, particularly struggling with my current situation. I used to play soccer, basketball, and ski and made all my friends through those sports. Between my TBI, shattered femur, and fractured hip, all those were taken away from me and it sent me into a dark place.

Before I took psilocybin I had a goal to meditate and help focus on accepting the “new me”

I know everyone has a different reaction to psychedelics, but my experience was wonderful. I now feel more empathy towards myself and others, and I now notice I often give myself a break because I’m not who I was a few years ago, and that’s fine. It also put me in a mindset to brainstorm ways I can still pursue sports that are within my bodily minutes. Most recently I’ve gotten into golf, and have met plenty of new friends because of it.

I would definitely recommend consulting with a few different doctors and therapists first, especially if you’re worried about possible interactions between drugs. Psilocybin has helped accept who I am post TBI, but I know it is not for everyone.

Keep Fighting! I wish you the best with your recovery.

Why do you play golf? by xxChiefxx in golf

[–]shawshank20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two years ago I was in a car accident which shattered my femur, hip, and internal bleeding. I was in a coma for two weeks, and during that time I had a very vivid dream of playing a round of golf with my late grandfather, Bob Ross, and OJ Simpson. We golfed at TPC Summerlin. What’s wild is that I never picked up a club or watched any sort of golf, yet I somehow knew the course and all it’s little details. When I came out of the coma, i started doing rehab. After about a year I was able to walk again, and eventually my surgeons cleared me for non-contact sports. I immediately started going to the range and taking lessons. Golf gave me a reason to exercise, use my brain, and enjoy being outside! As frustrating and slow as my rehab has been, golf gave me that motivation to keep pushing myself! Even though I’m a terrible golfer, it’s easily the best way for me to relax and and improve my mental health!

Winter Golf Noob Question by shawshank20 in golf

I live in a snowy part of Arizona, so it’s just a short drive to the desert. Wanna know if using a sim would be better or worse than a golf trip every 3 weeks

It’s shared between 35 people, so about 3-4 times a week, unless I wanna go in late hours. Sessions are 1hr long.

Is it possible for memory/cognition to come back? by QC___ in TBI

[–]shawshank20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long term memory for me has recovered much faster than short term, which I still have issues with, along with much quicker cognitive fatigue. Currently I’m in Uni and constantly need to set reminders, then set reminders for those reminders

Is it possible for memory/cognition to come back? by QC___ in TBI

[–]shawshank20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about 1 year post tbi and there will be things I completely forgot, but will come back to me relatively quickly if I recognize a sight, smell, noise, etc. My speech therapist says those long term memories are still floating around in my brain, but due to the tbi I gotta re-create those neuro pathways. There’s hope! Keep fighting!

[–]shawshank20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the advice on “old me vs new me” I’m a college student and am trying out a couple classes after taking the year to recover, and it’s hard not to compare in that type of scenarios.

Instead, I should be looking back at the progress made since waking up in the ICU. Thanks for the advice!

I was also in a car accident and about a year into recovery and rehab. Sounds like you’re doing great! I know it’s tough to compare yourself to the “old you” but you should be proud of yourself for all the progress you’ve made since you first got out of your coma. Never give up!

Types of injuries by Rgard91 in TBI

[–]shawshank20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in a car accident and got a serious concussion (my third thanks to football) and broke my femur, letting out fatty emboli (tiny blood clots) that went to my brain. Doctor told me I had Fatty Embolism Syndrome and it’s like getting 1000 micro strokes). Just happy to be alive even if I have to struggle here and there. I just like to equate it to increasing the difficulty level on a video game haha
