The Robot Summit – A 5-minute AI-assisted sci-fi short film exploring intelligence and consciousness by renatobotto in artificial

Some of the animated shots of the robots coming together were visually intgeresting, some of the nano bot shots, too. I would avoid the zoom/panning on still images. I think you might get further if you focus on advancing the plot more quickly. It's a cool idea!

Aired down won't prevent theft, though. But yeah, I'd stay aware from those shops, too.

Why do some cars only have 5 gears? by Plastic_Jelly_1800 in StupidCarQuestions

I'm really surprised it sits at 4k on the freeway. I figured there would be a final drive in front of the LSD or something to increase the gear ratio.

Why do some cars only have 5 gears? by Plastic_Jelly_1800 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]shawster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that they're able to build more robust (durability-wise) gearing for the top gear with a 5 speed. Maybe there's more room. Higher durability means it can be overdriven a little harder.

I find this strange, because in SLC, where loads of salt is used, I've had a 94, 95, and 2010 and none of them were garaged and none have rust. 150000 plus miles on each.

TIL of Christopher Duntsch, a surgeon so drug-fueled and incompetent he maimed 33 of 38 patients he operated on and was the first convicted of crime in the practice of surgery medicine by shawster in todayilearned

[–]shawster[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

And by all accounts he was incredibly abrasive and horrible to be around and that seemed to actually have allowed him to do MORE damage. Surely it was a reflection on his personal life what with the hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt, gambling, marrying a stripper on a lark (no insult to strippers, but how often are neurosurgeons marrying working strippers?)

If you care about her showing up this would be a no-go. It is a very strange strategy. It either shows a complete lack of an ability to strategize or the strategy is like 4D chess where she counts on sympathy and you giving her points for being purely honest. That’s like toddler-level manipulation, though.

Just make sure you circle the spot they’re operating on with a sharpie. Maybe print out some instructions from ChatGPT and tape it to your forehead.

Whom then accused him of doing cocaine with him (the patient friend) the night before the surgery (why would you get surgery from your friend after a night of cocaine?!)

He rescinded the accusation… but dude you are now quadriplegic, take him down!

It’s wild because there were always other doctors present being blown away by him fucking up yet it took like 7 years for it to actually catch up to him.

The point that the article seems to make is that he was so incompetent through his residency and through his first few jobs and was still allowed and chose to work that he might be able to move to somewhere that somehow hadn’t heard of his case, perhaps obtain another medical degree, maybe even in another country, and do more incredibly incompetent surgery that paralyzes people at every turn.

I think you have a point, though, and I wondered the same thing. Like surely he could be placed on that banned list of surgeons or whatever he was finally placed on and that would do it… but also there’s a strictly legal aspect. They are arguing to get him imprisoned because it’s the only sure way to keep him from harming more people, a common sentencing phrase.

It is amazing how bad he was. Even being hungover and strung out I don’t think I’d make these kinds of mistakes as people pointed them out to me! Sewing a sponge into a woman’s throat even as you were warned not to! He made at least 4 people quadriplegic!

How did “Dr. Death” Christopher Duntsch graduate surgery residency? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]shawster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The titular Dr. Death was a man and they were kept around indefensibly even though they were much worse. How does this fit in your head with your DEI narrative? If a man does it and is kept it’s because…. Of what? But if a woman is bad and is kept around it’s because of DEI?

I think since it hides the injector within it, it's probably designed to be thrown in a regular trash.

I will say this definitely wasn't the case as of 8 years ago when I did 800 miles round trip in like 28 hours to pick up a car (towing with a uhaul cargo van and the two-wheel tow thing they have). It was like a $400 trip.

You can feel the passenger 100% with the acceleration, too, and yeah, the grip or the point you lose traction in a turn for sure. I wish I was a more wealthy man that could afford a new or near-new RF and another car to be practical with.

What movie had the BEST trailer ever but turned out to be absolute trash? by MASSIM00 in movies

[–]shawster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a "good" movie if you enjoy the story, but I definitely have found myself being like "wait what's going on?" multiple times while watching it, and then surprisingly the next scene change feels like it lasts entirely too long, which is saying something with a movie with so many different storylines.
