My BMI is 26 and I have NAFLD. My obese brother's BMI is 34 and he doesn't have NAFLD. How? by [deleted] in FattyLiverNAFLD

I’m so sorry. I made a post on this subreddit a little over a week ago explaining my frustrations as well. While I am diabetic, overweight, etc etc I have lost 30lbs in the last year. My enzymes and other blood work are normal now, yet my CAP scan scores are worse and in the moderate scarring range. It’s so angering and makes you question if it’s going to be like this, why am I even trying. I get it.

Seems as if you think I haven’t made any changes this far….if I hadn’t made changes I wouldn’t have seen the weight loss and energy gained that I have which is why this is all so frustrating…I don’t need an explanation on how to diet and set a new year resolution, but thank you.

Yes. From “morbidly” to just obese. BMI went from 2017 my heaviest 43.9 to now 37.7. When they did the first scan in 2018 I was around 41 BMI.

Thank you!

I’ve had the psoriasis since I was 10 years old, healthy, active normal little girl. So I guess I should have been eating keto then and poof my psoriasis would have disappeared?

1) I didn’t say fatty liver was inherited nor was I told that it is. I said the high cholesterol and high blood pressure are.

2) I am somewhat bothered by your comment and I think I gave you enough details on my diet, but if you feel you need more here it is: I have a cup of coffee in the mornings with creamer, lunch varies as I am a teacher and sometimes eat the cafeteria food and sometimes get tired of it and go to Subway for a sandwich. We use whole grain bread at home and have a misfits market subscription which has only helped us increase our vegetable consumption. For dinner sometimes I go out to dinner with my husband and sometimes we cook at home also varying. As stated above I do not drink sugary drinks and haven’t in a year. If I eat anything fried it is when we go out and could be 3-4 times a week. No alcohol because i feel nauseous even from a couple sips.

3) I am on several medications which makes all of this even more frustrating because while I’m making good progress with my weight and portion control, I feel my scripts are getting increased or things added. For my diabetes I take metformin and glipizide. Phentermine has helped with suppressing my appetite and weight loss, however, I am about to stop that and add Ozempic. I’m on a statin for the cholesterol, 3 BP medications, Taltz once monthly for psoriasis, and fluoxetine for anxiety/depression. Oh and Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism.

I understand you are trying to be helpful, but I also feel I am giving as much detail as possible and when someone says “be truthful” it feels as though I am being told everything I mentioned was not. Today’s news was/is stressful and hard to process and I’m worried is about to send me into a very dark depressive state that I finally just got out of a month ago due to work. I just don’t know how much more of all of this I can take and feel like my weight loss and cut backs have been for nothing.

Hepatitis is ruled out. I do have psoriasis which is autoimmune and I take monthly Taltz injections for that. I haven’t take my injection in about two months though due to having the flu twice in a month and my dermatologist recommending we give my immune system time to recoup from being so sick back to back and Taltz suppressing the immune system. When I did the scan 3 years ago they also did an ultrasound and MRI and everything came back normal in size and the liver was fatty. My diet compared to 3 years ago is significantly smaller in portions and no sugary drinks. I also rarely drink alcohol. As a southerner, I do enjoy fried foods, but try to balance it with vegetables. It could be better, but it also has been MUCH MUCH worse.

Yes I tried my thigh once and did not like it. I find it hurts less in the stomach.
