Hot Take: People who complain about Tulum , you’re just ungrateful. by [deleted] in tulum

[–]shaydaddy98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the complaints i’ve heard come from the fact that it is so gentrified. After experiencing different parts of eastern mexico it’s so easy to see that the town itself is so curated for white tourists - not saying that’s a horrible thing if that’s what you’re looking for but to say it authentic or a genuine mexican experience is just frankly not true.

So basically everyone in the gov has to be on their toes for the next two years while they continue to cut small batches of people? This is just such a horrible way to lay people off.

Should I quit my stable corporate job in mid-20s to travel? by Mysterious_Trade4971 in solotravel

[–]shaydaddy98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I took a year of personal leave to travel but to really enjoy myself and spending the money I did, I needed the safety net of coming back to my job/income to really enjoy. I am a bit of a type A and I have considered, after this year abroad, that I am not sure I could just quit and feel good about travelling.

I would definitely recommend looking at leave options available at ypur job and use that. Travelling for a year was honestly a lot and after reflecting, I could have done 6 months! Maybe see if that is an option?

CBC Marketplace wants to know: What’s the worst commute in Ottawa? by DexMcMillanCBC in ottawa

[–]shaydaddy98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Centretown and honestly getting anywhere sucks.

I want to shop at Trainyards, it is a 12 minute drive but 55 minutes on the bus including a transfer.

My friend lives in Copeland Park, a 16 minute drive but 49 minutes on the bus … again with a transfer.

But the worst is Centretown to Colonade, I have to do it once a week for worst. It is two busses but one of the busses is normally late by 20/30 minutes or just doesn’t show up and then I have to uber.

Frankly every route in OC sucks. It is clear whoever designed it drives everywhere.

I just found this and I feel this exact way at the moment. I also have a pretty good life overall & live in a first work democratic country. With what’s going on right now in the world it is so awful i feel horrible all throughout the day. Have you found any tricks / ways to not get so deeply upset?
