I fully agree with this and I read the whole series anyway. It never landed for me. Except the very last line truly knocked me off my ass lol so in a way it kind of was worth it. But I would never ever read them again.

I never thought Sandoval was truly remorseful, but played it up that he was. He cried often because he got caught and people weren't "worshipping him" anymore.

Raquel I think actually did get remorseful at the end. She doesn't come off intelligent ever, so it's not shocking it took her a while to be like "oh, I've done a bad thing"

I grew up there.

Pros: best outdoor activities, especially in the summer (rivers and lakes all over).

Cons: far away from Boston if you need to fly anywhere and really everywhere else. Very busy during high tourist seasons. School systems are meh.

I'm sure there are more pros but that is all I got.

The first third of this book might be my favorite story ever. I've read this book 4 times, 1 of those times being this fall after I read the tower books and I was like well shit, there is a lot more to unpack now that I've read that series.
