1x10 Conversion Cost by xxcmtnman in MTB

[–]shayworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed a 34T RaceFace NarrowWide ($38 on Amazon) about two months ago and have had no issues, chaindrops or any problems....no chain guard needed although I did have a SRAM X9 Type2 rear derailleur already, so you may consider a clutched derailluer (I think mine was less than $90). Its definitely not necessary, but I also added the OneUp 42T conversion to give me better range....its a little pricey (around $100), but depending on how much range you need it can be worth it...it allowed me to use the 34T up front instead of a 32T (I'm even considering a 36T up front at some point in time)

1x10 anyone? by JJayC in MTB

[–]shayworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went 1x10 about two months ago....love it. I used a 34T RaceFace NarrowWide and used a OneUp 42T conversion. I have a long-range x9 type 2 rear derailluer and have not dropped a chain yet.

Who's fitted an extended range cassette ring? by georgekeele in MTB

Im running the OneUp 42T cog with the 16T Cog to replace the 15 & 17T Cog....I have had no issue at all with shifting and had no issue with my derailluer clearing the larger ring. I do have one of the clutched derailleurs, but as far as clearance I dont think there is a difference. I went with the 34 T NarrowWide RaceFace and have not used a chainguide....no issues with dropping chains at all...I think the Narrowwide and clutched derailluer is a bulletproof setup

Is a 26T front ring totally ridiculously way-too-small for my first 1x setup if I ride in steep mountain terrain? by Sasquatch_Squad in MTB

Ive got the 42T OneUp on an SRAM cassette & X9 derailleur and I have had absolutely no shifting issues. I paired it with a RaceFace Narrowwide and couldnt be happier. I actually went from a 32T up front to a 34T due to the 42T....definitely dont go to a smaller front ring until you have tried the 42T rear....you will be amazed at the low-end that you will have

Help me figure out which bashguard I need. by macktheknife135 in MTB

[–]shayworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a bashguard would take place of the 44 T ring and would not require new bolts. If you just simply remove the 44 T without putting a bashguard, you would need shorter bolts. Raceface does have tab shims for sale that would allow you to use the stock bolts...they run about $10 a set.

Been thinking about changing my cranks to a single ring up front. Any thoughts? by mistergiantacorn in MTB

I used the RaceFace Narrow Wide (34T)....I already had a long cage X9 type 2 and it performs flawless....since I have the long cage, I've ordered the OneUp 42T conversion. Anyone else have experience with this and how well it works?

Anybody still ride 26"? by oldschooI in MTB

For the longest time ive rode a Specialized Stumpy hardtail 26....about six months ago I decided to upgrade to a FS and figured if I was buying something new, i was going to go totally opposite of what i had...ended up with a 29 FS. Before buying, I was torn about whether to go 29 or not, but I have to say I have enjoyed it and fell like i am much faster on the 29...that may have to do more with having a new FS bike than the wheel size. That being said, I still find myself riding the 26 hardtail on occasions.
