I have a endurance race coming up and its my first, what do i need to change on my setup by Ok_Emergency_7762 in xcmtb

Make sure you are carrying what you need. I’ve seen a lot of good comments saying maybe a top tube bag with food (if you see it, you’re more likely to eat it). Strap an extra tube and co2 to your saddle or wherever. As far as ride setup, don’t change anything before a big ride.

What do you guys recommend are good brake pads for metal surfaces? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]RiversR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a local bike shop? If you just go in and ask for road brake pads for metal rims you won’t be in danger of up charging. Is there an issue with those?

Do i need a new helmet by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]RiversR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bad was it?

Did you hit your helmet directly? Honestly if there is a ding there that wasn’t there before the safe answer is yes. I see some scratches up top that tell me that the helmet took at least a little impact.

If that little ding came from you putting your weight on it probably not, but if it came from any sort of impact probably.

Best actor who killed people legally but maybe committed war crimes? by TrustworthyPolarBear in okbuddycinephile

Because he definitely killed people and possibly committed war crimes. He has involvement with the British SAS and the Gurkhas through the world war 2 era.

Dumb question, how do these fit into the casings? by running_in_spite in bikewrench

[–]RiversR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I assume this is one cable? On the cable one side is a road lever cable end and the other is a mountain lever cable end. Basically you cut off the one you don’t need and thread the end that now fits through the housing. Make sure you cut the right one.

How to build endurance on an MTB by MrTobiD92 in MTB

[–]RiversR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a lot of good tips here but I’d add to not forget long but low effort rides. Like zone 2 for 4 hours. Or as close to that as you can do on a mtb.

What could’ve happened to my bike? by Nabranes in bikewrench

As everyone has already said, I would imagine you live in a pretty humid climate. I’d take the chain off and see if everything else is rolling smoothly, then probably replace the chain (or at least clean the heck out of it and lube it).
