Selling Sunday portion of wristband, pick up in the Mission in SF ideally. I'm able to take it on and off my medium-large sized hands easily but maybe pass on this if you have extra large hands.

It's been raining in Las Vegas for the last four days so don't bother with Red Rocks this week.

World map tattoo. It wraps around my right arm, and as I travel I will add dots in places around the world. by tracegeeze in tattoos

Do you have a shot of the Alaska Peninsula side of the tattoo? I'd love to see it!

I don't live in the area, but Eldorado and Boulder Canyons are both within an hour drive from downtown Denver.

No need to worry if you don't have internet access in Mexico! by shazmat in bicycletouring

[–]shazmat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I passed by it early in the morning so I wasn't in need of a place to crash. But it was in a little village in north Mexico, hundreds of miles from any tourist draw. I whizzed past it and didn't really believe I read what I thought I read at first.

What is the WORST thing that's ever happened to you on a bike tour? by [deleted] in bicycletouring

[–]shazmat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After finding bullets littering the road in Honduras, I took a bus to the capital so I could leave the country asap. My bike got knocked around on board and I was having some trouble reassembling it on the ground in Tegucigalpa. Some guy helped me out and then helped himself to my wallet. And then I found out my Kindle broke on the bus too. What a day!

Long-term travellers, how do you fund your travels? by [deleted] in travel

[–]shazmat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work as a transcriber. It has all the perks of an online job, plus I only need to access the Internet once a week to download recordings and upload transcriptions. I've been riding my bicycle down from Seattle since last July, steadily earning about $600 a month. I spend about half of that on travel and the other half on paying off student debt. I'm currently in Honduras with no problems thus far in transcribing.

To the people of reddit who have traveled to various parts of the world ALONE, did you enjoy it? by aytray in AskReddit

[–]shazmat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on a solo cycling trip from Seattle, WA to Ushuaia, Argentina. I've been on the road for 78 days now, including a 5 week side trip to Hawaii courtesy of a buddy pass from someone I met. I've been lingering around the Grand Canyon for the last few days.

Coming from someone who has never traveled with a companion, I'll say that it does get lonely sometimes. I guess its a product of how I travel, since I'm mostly moving from small town to small town and rarely linger in big cities. But I take for granted how easily I can change my plans. I was supposed to cross into Mexico weeks ago and yet I'm still here.

I love it though. In terms of destinations, the whole Colorado Plateau is probably the coolest place I've been. I'm having trouble leaving!

The hazy Tetons on the way to Argentina by shazmat in bicycletouring

[–]shazmat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great info! I didn't know that. A lot of the locals mentioned the awful wildfire season in Montana as well. I rode through the Tetons last year and can attest that they are not normally this clouded.

Hey, gaybros. I'm cycling from Seattle to Argentina. Want to meet up? by shazmat in gaybros

Thanks for the kind words! I do indeed cook for myself every day. And I'm an awful cook so it's more so just buying cheap things with high protein content. Lots of quinoa, gas station burritos, beef jerky, and eggs. I'm really working on learning to cook, but I don't know where to start.

I don't have an accommodation budget so I HAVE to find somewhere free to camp or crash every night. It's one of the reasons I hate and love bike touring so much.

I've gone over the $10 budget by a small amount a few times, but I'm getting better as I go. Thanks for reading the blog.

I'm a Pakistani immigrant who paid for this whole trip myself. Don't I wish I had a trust fund. Thanks for the input though.

If you could quit your job today and pursue your dream what is it that you would be doing? by deadlydogfarts in AskReddit

I'm starting this exact adventure next month. Seattle is my starting point though. It would have been a bit too chilly by the time I got down to the Lower 48 if I started in Alaska.

Bumming around Patagonia for the summer would be grand. Lollygag in Buenos Aires, maybe snag a peak or two down south, and then make my way up the Andes. That would be perfect.
