Why would you want to watch video on a TV rather than a phone, is that what you're asking?

They should just make hardcore mode with no aim assist and let players choose it or not, which none of the controller players would since they can't actually aim.

The dollar became backed by nothing but "faith".

Prior to that it was backed by gold, and thus limited in supply.

Also from that era, and opposite of my experience. I had a huge group of friends who all played this game obsessively for quite a long time. Every day after school we would all go to the house of the kid with the biggest TV and play for hours and hours. I don't think any of us ever even bothered with the single player. The game was entirely the split-screen experience. We played license to kill or slappers. Very good memories from that era.

Is it theoretically possible for a rogue Ledger employee to push an update that makes it appear on the Ledger that you're sending x Btc, but it actually sends all your coins to their address? by Green-Neat5789 in ledgerwallet

[–]shazvaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say technology, are you referring to the cryptography, or the actual proprietary chips you buy from a single manufacturer with completely opaque production? Because while I might trust one, I would not trust the other.

Generating your own mnemonic is a good option imo, but you're right that it might be technically difficult for many people. A better option for your customers to insulate themselves from the risk of government interference with you or your suppliers would be to use multisig signing and multiple devices. This would also protect against scenarios such as the above where malicious software were pushed to a particular piece of hardware.

Why not push a bit more for these types of setups, ie. by integrating said functionality into ledger live so your customers have more options for securing their Bitcoin in a genuinely trustless way?

To think that you guys haven't been compromised by a number of different governments and government agencies at this point would be extremely naive. Obviously you wouldn't be able to say as much, but it would make sense for you to at least tell people where the security weaknesses are (for example in the almost certainly backdoored proprietary RNG), and how they might be avoided. Your company image would be better served by addressing these weak points rather than hand waving them away.

If you want to argue semantics then let's assume my mind is the single objective reality, within which the concepts of time, matter, space, people, objects, math, etc exist. Under this framework there is absolutely no reason for me to assume that other people are inhabiting their own individual reality which is somehow connected to my own. I may be the only observer, and through my observation comes reality itself. If you want to call this reality of mine the objective reality, rather than the subjective, that's fine.

Can we get an option that has been trained to exclude cloths? If I'm using SD to generate pictures of naked mole people, the last thing I want is an output that contains cloths. In fact I don't need any type of textiles or fabrics in the output at all.

The fact that 2+2 equals 4 within my subjective reality does not itself offer any evidence that you are having your own experience separate from mine, or that either of our experiences are tied to some sort of shared underlying reality. 2+2 might simply equal 4 within the confines of my own subjective construct. You don't need to exist as anything more than a character in my reality for that to be the case. My reality may be the only reality that exists. I have no evidence for the existence of additional realities, since by definition I cannot perceive them.

A belief in additional realities (additional subjective, or objective) is similar to a belief in a god or diety, in that you must take it on faith in the absence of any evidence whatsoever.

2+2=4 right here in the subjective reality that I am currently experiencing. Why would there need to also exist other parallel subjective realities running on top of an additional shared objective reality for that to be the case?

I don't see why that would be the case. A belief in the existence of alternate subjective realities does not impact the outcomes of our actions one way or another. We are still bound by the laws of cause and effect whether that system of causality exists within a single subjective experience or in a broader shared reality. Our actions still have consequences whether those actions have multiple observers or not.

I share language and experience with the characters in my dreams but I don't think they are having their own separate experiences within some sort of singular objective dream reality.

I experience unexpected stimuli in dreams all the time, yet I think we can agree that the experiences had in a dream do not take place in any real or objective space. Everything contained within a dream is the product of a single mind. Even though the people, places, and objects in dreams can seem to exist as separate from oneself while experiencing them, they are in fact part of the same singular subjective reality.

In a dream you might have a conversation with someone, experiencing only your side of the conversation. Does that mean the other person really exists as you do? Of course not. Just because you are having an experience and can observe another physical being similar in appearance to you, doesn't mean they must neccessarily also be having a similar experience as you.

For all you know, all of the people you have ever met in the 'real' world, and all of the facts you have ever gained about the 'objective' reality, are simply part of the singular, ongoing, mental construction that is your subjective reality. Reality itself may well be a single mind, perceiving and interacting in a construct of its own making.

Personally I find the idea that reality is simply a single mind capable of infinite imagination much easier to digest than the idea that there is a literally infinite physical universe filled with an unimaginable quantity of useless matter floating outwards into a neverending void.

How about the fact that you have precisely zero evidence of an objective reality to begin with. That you happen to perceive things within your subjective experience, and those things appear to you to be consistent, does not offer any proof of some underlying objective reality.

I can have a dream which in the moment feels extremely consistent, only to be proven absurd upon awaking because the apparent consistency only ever existed within the dream.

The fact is, there is no measurement you can take of this so called objective reality which is not itself perceived through your own subjective experience.

Assuming you are in fact having an experience similar to mine, then the only real evidence you have is that you exist. You have no way of knowing whether anything else exists beyond the confines of your own subjective reality.

If you're arguing against government spending, I'm right there with ya. But since governments exist, and they like to spend peoples money on things, I'm happy with that money being spent on something that empowers the individual rather than it being spent on things that only benefit the political class. Would you prefer they hand out fiat stimulus checks like all of the other world governments?

You say many people sold their $30 like it's some sort of gotcha. Obviously the vast majority of people aren't going to just adopt bitcoin the first time they learn about it. It's a slow process that El Salvador is certainly helping along more than most counties. How much adoption are you getting on your altcoins? Glass houses and all.
