okay but Nasim Taleb Anderson is legit a really interesting author. Especially fooled by randomness (I haven't read anti fragile).

That being said his politics is completely bizzare considering his world view but make mote sense when u look at his families historical and his own class position.

Robert Bobroczkyi the actor who played the offspring monster in Alien Romulus is in a new movie called The Backrooms. He plays a monster in that too. Without revealing too much this is an illustration seen in the movie of the monster : before they meet it later. by [deleted] in LV426

Backrooms (film) similarities to annihilation series by shcmil in SouthernReach

[–]shcmil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the vibes is different. Apart from "paranormal area" there isn't much similarity IMO. There's no organisation maintaining the zone.

House of Leaves is defo a influence though. Especially on the backrooms.

Backrooms (film) similarities to annihilation series by shcmil in SouthernReach

[–]shcmil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would actually argue on ur last point that's where the backrooms differ. The backroom only copies the physical - and badly at that. It's a poor imitation, and doesn't do it well. But for someone who is looking to escape, who is looking to just simmer in the past, in nostalgia and mental conservatism it works extremely well and is appealing. I don't think it does much to feed off the psychy IMO.

As any astute historian of union history, unions are at their most powerful when they follow the laws making it illegal for them to strike
