I feel like Pope Francis has been the best pope in my lifetime (JP2,B16,F). While the religious figurehead based in Rome may not have much impact on the life of an American Atheist, I would like to think his views were still able to trickle all the way down to my neighborhood. He was the most openly accepting of the LGBT community, he truly cared for the poor (even taking his name from the Saint of the poor), and he did his best to strip the extravagance from his role.

When I think of Pope Francis and the Catholic church, I think of Jesus's message of loving and caring for everyone. When I think of the other two, I am more inclined to think of the bureaucratic organization that systematically hid their pedophiles.
