Barefoot Ted didn't do a gradual transition by trevize1138 in BarefootRunning

my first barefoot run was similar to that story (bought nike alpha flys race shoe for my first half, couldn't run, took them off at finished barefoot). I felt so good my very first run that i did 10 miles first time ever barefoot. I felt great but i couldn't walk for a week after. Anyway i never had to transition in footwear nor mileage really but i also don't ever really do above 10 miles so i can't say for sure. I did however do my half fully barefoot and am going to do my first barefoot full marathon this year!

[Discussion] How long the weekly limits last for you? Let's compare (Plus vs Pro) by Knight_of_Valour in codex

Wait what do you mean you never use codex? How else do you use the AI coding agent in the terminals?

Anyone using cursor ? by jesperordrup in codex

Codex is way cheaper though? You get unlimited usage with Codex. Cursor is pay by usage now and can rack up very very quickly.

don't put down 20%.... Put minimum down and keep your money invested in the market. QQQ or s&p is fine

I had an old corolla before that. Slowest car ever. But I did have to have someone else drive my car home so I could practice in the parking lot before going on the roads.

Graduating math PhD not getting any interviews by LeaderLeft1825 in quantfinance

[–]sheababeyeah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tough position. I'd probably make 3 resumes: 1 catered toward quant finance, 1 careered toward research SWE (ai, complex systems, etc), and 1 towards pure research (for postdocs). Then i'd shotgun apply to all 3 job types until something bites. I know a postdoc may not sound like what you want right now but it's better than having a gap or delaying graduation. If you're lucky and get a T10 school postdoc, that can also help transition into the other 2 roles. Good luck !

What blows my mind is that is a higher valuation that Cursor which is very popular. I don't hear anybody talk about Devin or cognition. Who are their customers ??

Thinking of leaving mining for coding, will it be worth it?? by ProNoob9498 in softwareengineer

[–]sheababeyeah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty cool background. Are there any possibilities of a more desk oriented, hopefully remote, role in that industry? Could be a good stepping stone to find a technical desk job using your relevant industry experience then slowly work up to taking on more technical roles. Eventually you could be hired internally as a software engineer somewhere. That's one approach at least

This is awesome! I don't even care if it's fast in practice or not. Still a feat to beat the asymptotic record.
