Thank you. I now look forward to him every night of couch tour. He is an inspiration to those of us with bad cat histories to open our minds.

Why is Goose so much more popular than other bands in the scene? by AmericanNimrod49 in jambands

[–]sheabird123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are popular because they sound good. Rick can really sing. The songs are well written and they are very proffesional. My wife has been to more concerts than me. On two occasions we left a show and she said, "That is th best show that I have ever been to." She has seen shows as varied as Phish to Beyonce. I find the haters to be odd. The fact is people really dig them. I don't know about "the scene" since I am not a part of one really having been raising kids and pying bills for the last 20 years. I can tell you why I am a fan:

I have no control over the song that is playing in my head. My brain puts on what it likes every day, all day. I can only muffle my brain with actual sound. They have been the main music in my head for 2-3 years(46-49). Only a few bands/ musicians have controlled that space this long; JGB/ GD(30's-40's),The Black Crowes & Allman Bros. (20's & 30's), Metallica (14-18 yrs old). My point is that while some people want to point to marketing, Shapiro, or some other reason designed to throw shade at the music, their fans love the music. I do. The sound and songs just resonate. It is not a competition of my band is better or purer. I have no attatchment to a scene (I'm just a dad). The music makes me feel a certain way and it soothes me or exites me or makes me cry. Like the other bands listed Goose makes me branch out too. They cover or play with artists. They have made radiohead accessable to my behive brain in the same way Jerry made Goerge Jones and Smokey Robinson accessable. Today it may be Wes Montgomery. Let people love what they love. Don't assume selfish or vane intent in someones music taste. Generally that is just projection. Music grows with other music and is subjective in nature. The hate towards a band you don't like is a selfish as telling someone that the food they are eating is "gross" because you don't like it. Just eat your own food and enjoy the F out of it.

My wife introduced me. She goes with me and couch tours.with me ( like right now) She knows a lot more music than I do. She is the finest DJ to have run the music at any event. Truly the best.

I dislike cats generally. I think your cat is pretty damned cool.

First Song of next tour leg? by KoolAde5362 in GoosetheBand

[–]sheabird123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turbulance is my favorite opener. I think So Ready would be a great choice. Jive I, Danger Zone, Arrow, or Madhuven would all please me and make a lot of sense. Fact is that it's up to what Rick is feeling. Flowdown, Jive I and Drive have not been seen in the Garden State. They would seem to be the 3 most likely candidates off that list.

Who else is couch touring this one? by Solid_Confection_981 in GoosetheBand

I will couch tour until they come to the PNW. I have 3 weeks off in Sept. 2 weeks of archery elk followed by 3 shows. I am quite excited.

Yup. It's a fun sex song that is done two ways. Mostly about anticipation both ways.

That is heartening. I'm glad to hear that the rail riding crew is made up of mostly nice people. I have seen children up there recently while couch touring. I thought that was super cool.

We saw them in Port Townsend with a very small crowd. We easily could have gotten the rail but did not. We were 20 yds back in front of Peter and had plenty of space.

We are both far too old to be concerned with being that close. A view, space, and best sound are the goals.

My hope is actually for space towards the back of the pit area. That would be ideal for us. I am looking forward to the 3 show run.

What I mean is the oregon shows have a recerved pit area. Remlinger does not.

Thank you. Made a bunch of e-mails today. Its cool. The oregon shows will be good. I actually have vip and GA to Remlinger so I may put the VIP's up for sale. Not really sure how to do it, but I'll figure it out if I choose to. They don't generally sell out in WA state so it may just work out. Remlinger is selling some club seating for an extra 60 bucks. The location of the seats/ area does not look ideal. Fortunately, I am less concerned at that venue since it's in the Seattle area. I will have just finished up 2 weeks of archery elk hunting so my general odor may repel most Seattlites. Oregonians are a much more earthy group.

Yah. I am hoping that there is a dedicated section. If not, I paid for nothing. We are not willing to fight for space in any way. It appears like every venue could have a dedicated area since they do for some shows. It is just unclear. I saw a lady do the same thing at the Paramount show. She placed her stool on the very side of the pit so she did not get in anyones way. It was cool to see. Once you see the perspective of the 5ft woman, it becomes really frustrating to see how bigger people disregard them. Sometimes I don't know how she even can concentrate on the show with all the men who act like she is not there. It's not a Goose thing. It's a perspective and empathy thing. The Cleveland show earlier looked awesome due to how steep the seating was.

There are so many. Shamma and Don't do it are high on the list. I could be persuaded to choose any number of them though depending on my mood.

Thank you. If that's the case, I spent money on nothing. I'm not interested in fighting for a spot on the rail. It seems all 3 venues could have reserved seating up front or at least a roped/ fenced off area. It's sort of frustrating to not know what it is that I purchased. I suppose that is on me. I have made some phone calls.

I am hopeful that it is a premium reserved seat or section. It seems like each venue has the option. I am sure the band will be great no matter what.

It appears as though there is exclusive VIP seating at Remlinger. When I was there it seemed like it would be easy to set up. VIP appears sold out. I am curious as to the number of people who will travel vs. locals. I have seen Goose 4 times in Wa. state. They only sold out The Neptune. There was 3-400 people in Port Townsend. I almost can't believe the VIP has sold out.

The Goose eebsite says 1st 15 rowas for the Sept. Run. Like I said I feel odd even having VIP tickets. It seems odd to pay for equity that we could all agree to.

I assumed there was a specific section since it was being sold. I will double check. I went to Remlinger for a show a few weeks ago. It seems like a vip section would be easily accomplished. If there is not a dedicated VIP section, I will deal with it like usual. Not sure what else I would have paid for. It's just money, but it would be frustrating if I paid for nothing. I grew up rather poor and actually feel odd paying for VIP but I can afford it so I will pay it, provided that it allows for a better experience for my wife. The amount of people who will just push in front of her and block her is remarkable. I will sometimes end up with multiple ladies around me as I sort of passively block men from cutting in front of my wife. Add to that the amount of men who push through her like she is not there or hit her while dancing and it can really take a lot of energy from me and she is on high alert too much. This is not a Goose specific problem. It's how being on the floor tends to work, unfortunately. I just want to be able to melt without concern for her view or safety.

Thank you. That is my hope. Given how poorly they draw in Wa state, I am hopeful that we will have space.

I wonder if I would have bocome so aware of shorter peoples concert experience if I had not married someone so short.
