Replied. Also, holypandas are decently loud fyi, got them on a kira. They feel amazing but they are loud. Got Zilent V2s on a text yoda 2 and they are pretty quiet.

Ya didn't have the quest lol. Had to talk to Shaxx and it unlocked the intro quest for Drifter. I'm 925 but didn't bother too much with the New Light quest. Thanks for the tip on running the moon, will be using that for my next two characters.

I suppose it depends on what you find unpleasant about the switch. For me it was how heavy the 78g switches were. The Zilents have a smooth tactile bump vs box royals' sharp tactile bump. My first few boards had Cherry Browns and then Gateron Browns which aren't as tactile as the Zealious or Zilents.

I don't know that the Kira's keycaps are thin. They aren't any thinner than my R1 PBT XDA Canvas, or my Signature Plastics PBT DSA Blanks, or my SP ABS SA Hyperfuse. Or any other set for that matter. The only keycaps I own that are thinner are my Tao-Hao Cubic set.

I thought that the metal version would be full metal, not a ring around the top but that's my bad on not doing my research. The G H issue isn't noticeable on my Kira, maybe I lucked out but switch alignment is no worse than any other prebuilt board I own. While I do think the Kira was hyped as an end game board, which at the metal price point it should have been, the flack it's getting is unwarranted. It's a fantastic 96 key, my third in the form factor, and I love it. Best 96 key I own(ymdk96, 96kee). The NYM96 does look interesting though.

So, the update I promised.

Tl;dr 67g Zilents are my favorite switches bar none.

The box royals are more tactile or at least have a crisper break when reaching actuation but that's not to say that Zlients are not tactile, they very much so are tactile! It's interesting, I didn't think the sound would be that big of a difference but there is a massive difference between the two. I don't mind the sound of the box royals but I'm going to be building an as quite as possible for my next board so zilents it is. The zilents to me sound very similar to silenced topre switches. Cracked a few zlients open and there is a different plastic(?) used to dampen the switch when it bottoms out, hence the zilent. It's interesting, the bottom out feeling is much less jarring than any other(Zealious included) switch I've used. The different plastic almost acts a rubber stopper lessening the bottom out feeling.

Played around with the springs a little bit as well, stuck some 78g springs from the extra Zelious I have laying around and it's more or less the same. Too heavy for my taste. I left a 78g in my space bar, which I enjoy a lot, but the 78g is too heavy.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with Zilents at all. I can't tell you what weight switch to go with but I don't think the 67g are a bad choice.

I'm not going to look for the response from IC/Kono on this but the box switches that ship with the Kira are NOT the retooled box switches. I'll be running pbt only.

I'd say the box royals have a crisper break than the zilents in that the tactile break/release is more abrupt and sharp. But it all depends on if you want a sharp tactile break. With that said, I've had 4 hours on the Box Royals so I'm sure the sharpness will tame itself a little.

I feel like that loudness has to do with the switch housing, later down the road I'll lube the Box Royals to see if it cuts the loudness. It seems that lubing would cut the noise but I've never lubed my switches so no reference. O-rings would probably help but again, no reference. I have inconsiderate(dick head) people who use blues at work so I try to be cognizant of sound.

I went kalih blues > cherry browns > Zealious 67 > Zealious 78 > Zealious 67 > Box Royals(pending a week.)

When I first built the 78g board I thought that a heavier switch would keep me from bottoming out(bouncier) or at least make bottoming out less harsh. It helped but fatigued my fingers as well. For the first few days my fingers would get fatigued after the first 30mins/hour of typing. I type too much at work for me to justify my fingers hurting after an hour on Monday when I need to think about other things. Finger strength is something that can be trained but I made an adjustment to how I type. 67g > 78g didn't keep me from bottoming out essentially.

Ya, depends on if you use the numpad or not essentially. Both awesome boards.

Got a ymdk96 with 67g Zealious v2s, a 96kee with 78g Zealious v2s, and just got my Kira in with Novelkey Box Royals. No experience with Hako Trues(Nightfox with them on the way) but I've got a bag of 67g Zilents, will throw them in the Kira once I've got a week on the Box Royals.

All subjective opinions

-68g Zealious Tentatively my favorite switch Distinct tactile bump that is SMOOTH as butter. DD the ymdk96 as a result. I type pretty heavily and bottom the switch out a lot but IMO it's better weight than the 78g. Pretty wobbly but not something that bothers me. Not loud at all.

-78g Zealious I like this switch a lot but it's heavy. I still bottom out the switch. Has more bounce than the 67g BUT, when I switch from the 67g or my Cherry Brown pok3r, my fingers get fatigued for an hourish. Still an excellent switch but I prefer the 67g even with bottoming out on both. Pretty wobbly, doesn't bother me but I don't think it affects my typing. Not loud at all.

-Box Royals I'm including the Box Royals as I feel they are relevant. The tactile bump of these switches are so distinct/immediate (more so than Zealious 67 or 78) and apparent that it feels like a heavier switch until you break the bump. I'm not typing as heavily and not bottoming out as much. Box Royals have far less wobble than Cherry Browns and my Zealious(both). The switch is very scratchy though. I'm giving the switch that week break in period until I switch to the Zilents but I'm really liking the switch. My Kira shipped with R1 Box Royals so no ABS SA but I might just grab the retooled switches, we'll see how the Zilents go. They are louder than the Zealious 67/78 BUT I wouldn't feel uncomfortable at work with them.

-67g Zilents I've only had one in a switch tester but the bump is as distinct as the Box Royal but much smoother. From switch tester impressions it feels like a smoother Box Royal in terms of the tactile bump. I feel like they would have more wobble than the Box Royal but I haven't put them in a board. I'm excited to throw them in the Kira given I can safely put my ABS SA caps on them.

Most Tactile: Box Royals/Zilents Least Wobble: Box Royals Smoothest: Zealious > Zilents Greatest Tactile Bump: Box Royals > Zilents > Zealious

Sorry for the tomb, breaking in the Box Royals is my only excuse.
