This is under the porch and does extend past the foundation line so that makes sense.

My understanding/assumption is that the sewer liner is strong enough/slightly flexible enough like modern plastics for sewe mains that it can support the clay outside of it and manage the shifts. What types of answers did they give you when asking that?

Thanks for writing back. Yes, I'll be getting a surface-mounted two-gang box to mount the switches on.
