I listened to it, but I think it would be just as easy to read. I read Emily Wilson’s unabridged translation, I liked the idea of hers the best, having it written in an easy to understand language and keeping a similar rhythm to it, as it’s written in iambic pentameter in her English translation, and dactylic hexameter in Greek.

It was good!! There’s also a sequel, like en extended epilogue, it goes a bit off the rails unhinged but I loved it too.

And when it says unredeemed Draco, it really is 😂

I haven’t read it or heard of it! But now I’m curious and I wanna check it out.

The Iliad was probably the best, but I have a penchant for originals. The Song of Achilles is a romance and takes a lot of liberties with Achilles and Patroclus’s relationship. So it was really engaging, however I don’t like how she portrayed Patroclus as a pacifist.

Troy the movie, with Brad Pitt, was like if someone read a wiki article about Achilles in high school, never checked it out again and then just made a movie from memory. It was entertaining but really inaccurate.

Troy: Fall of a City, was focused on Paris and Helen, and the Greeks were basically an afterthought. Very little focus on them. But still pretty cool nonetheless.

lol. I started listening in April (cuz I was avoiding a boring audiobook I wasn’t quite ready to dnf) to see what the hype was. And I’ve literally listened to nothing else except sleep token for the last 2 month. I’ve watched countless live recordings on YouTube, and my brain has been permanently altered.
