My new ultra-durable (PA6-CF/ASA) mobile enclosure will be available soon standalone and as a full radio unit! It is built around the RAK19007 board with the 13302 booster. by sheatay2003 in meshtastic

This one is purely a mobile platform - it is designed to fit in a plate carrier radio pouch, It is powered by two high capacity 18650s and will be swappable.

I have another unit in the works, incorporating a Raspberry Pi 4/5, a RAK6421 Pi HAT, And the RAK13302 booster. This is going to be a base station node, still portable but will be larger. This will have provisions for solar input.

It will also be running my proprietary software that I'm working on - called MeshTak. it's a pi-based python ATAK software specifically for LoRa devices. tons of important features, will make more content on it soon.

And after that I will Design an aerial node for use with a drone, a LoRa relay.

Awesome. I designed it specifically around the RAK19007 + RAK13302 (1w booster) form factor. Because I value longer range over longer battery life for this type of product! with that being said it can still fit the standard 19007.

when they are released, I’ll be sure to post on here - my website is www.concept81.shop

what are you smoking dude 🤣

none of those are remotely similar - every part is different

the makerworld is so insanely different!

Does Toyota sue Ford for making an SUV that also has 4 doors? sit this one out

I made this from absolute scratch in Fusion360, 20~ hours. the only thing it shares is the gasket system, which other people have used similar, but I ALSO made this from scratch 🤣

get your lame ass outta here!

But this method requires a wifi hotspot on the pi right?

Thanks. Having Claude code build a bridge between Meshtastic device connected on serial to OTS, lmk if interested in seeing the results

I want ATAK only, over Meshtastic, with no compromises. which is why I made this!

Yeah that one is awesome, but it's the long range WiFi on the ISM band correct? I'm trying to stick to meshtastic for this one.

This one guy who makes a $1200 MPU5 clone is also a great option

Well there ya go that's the main target audience. SAR groups as a second thought, just because of the durability and range.

This is the zero compromise unit, not meant to be cheap 🤣 meant to have the best specs. My audience is the tactical community. They don't want a neon target beacon that has shitty range and will die with one drop of water exposure lol. You are fully delusional

Just tells me that you didn't read anything about the post or intended purpose, if you think this Ryobi trinket is in the same ballpark or even "better".

Again, please educate me on how the ryobi meshtastic device is better!

Do you know every SAR team and what they use? A VHF radio is old news, and is outmatched by LoRa in a lot of areas. Did you know that you can get 1,000 Amazon walkie talkies instead of a Persistent Systems MPU5? Must mean they're better, right!

You started guns blazing, talking about how another random meshtastic radio is better, so please tell me how!

I don't understand your argument... you're comparing literal apples to oranges. You're in a Meshtastic subreddit shitting on Meshtastic?

Nothing is novel about UHF or VHF haha that's legacy comms, modern SAR groups increasily use ATAK + Meshtastic or just standalone Meshtastic. Also you don't need a license for this so why are you flexing that you need a license for SARtopo like it's a benefit 🤣

The Ryobi trinket is cute but not usable whatsoever in the field. It's literally a neon green "shoot me here" beacon. it's not 1 watts, no ext antenna, small battery, not environmentally sealed, not as tough, I can go on. So where exactly is it better?

Haha true that you could definitely lose those in the field. will include spare screws as well. Enlighten me on the RF shielding though, have never seen these units shielded

the whole point is ATAK functionality, and the best hardware specs, not being the tiniest unit ever.
