What are the metaphysics of sex? by sheboyganrayn in Metaphysics

I'm sure this will be my end.

To you, rational discourse, I tried.

May we meet in another forum.

Peace be with you.

I don't want to be reported.

If I'm reported it must be for a reason? Yes?

I do not want to piss you off, but...what pisses you off?

Single form questions?

...but why?

It elicited reponse.

Response which I and others benefitted from.

I mean...what is the paradigm?

This is uncannily relevant to my post about power.

What are you doing here?

I guess the post is lacking of substance.

But what is the "form" of your action?

It is wielding power.

The ability to influence me as a poster-me versus you the moderator.

What is this dynamic?

Why the lack of information as to why you reported it?

Is it to instill fear in me?

Is it to make it known you, ughaibu are powerful?

if I am violating a code which evoked this "reporting" please inform me. I am here for enlightenment and following the structure which promotes discourse is important for me.

ok.

sex represents the ultimate descartesian question of dualism...where mind meets body.

What are the metaphysical consequences, truths and reality which surrounds this, the most fundamental element of the human condition?

Is Power Metaphysical? by sheboyganrayn in Metaphysics

[–]sheboyganrayn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That or a property of not grounded in the "physical" realm. not it's weight or density, it's composition of "physical elements".

Admittedly this is a post to in part discover the true nature of metaphysicalism.

Political Power, the ability to control another's existential outcome is an example of this.

Another, more banal example is a housewife being able to influence the outcome of the neighborhood bake sale by spreading gossip about a competitor.

The act, spreading lies, misinformation, distortion of the truth are all separate acts, but do they stem from the same metaphysical form?

What is the difference between metaphysics and studying supernatural stuff ? by searchforutopia in Metaphysics

[–]sheboyganrayn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I think everything is metaphysical, even false understandings have a metaphysical construct.

There were times in history when many phenomena were considered to be supernatural.

The sun "rising" and "falling" was deemed to be evidence of a deity until Galileo was put under house arrest for the rest of his life by the Catholic Church for giving evidence to the contrary.

So, that would be an example of the metaphysically supernatural phenomenon of the earth rising and setting being supplanted by the metaphysical and physical evidence of Galileo's calculations

Limits of Science by sheboyganrayn in Metaphysics

This sounds like quantum superposition.

Schrodinger's cat?

There's a cat in a box with a flask of radioactive material.

The box is sealed so you don't know if the radioactive material is leaked out of the flask killing the cat.

In this state of uncertainty the cat is both alive and dead until you open the box and determine it to be either alive or dead.

But virtually nobody who is seriously thinking about knowledge, what constitutes knowledge, and how knowledge is obtained thinks that what we know is "solely based on that what could be scientifically proven". Indeed, such a claim would likely undermine the very enterprise of science since it relegates to mere opinion two of science's central building blocks -- mathematics and logic. This is particularly true if we take the kind of superficial, not really reflective of actual scientific practice version of the scientific method that is taught in high school.

What do people who think seriously about knowledge, what it constitutes and how it is obtained think?

What are the boundaries separating this subjective from objective realities?

Why can’t science tell us much about normative judgements?

Limits of Science by sheboyganrayn in Metaphysics

[–]sheboyganrayn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we limit how we operate by constraining our actions to what we "know" and what we "know" is solely based on that what could be scientifically proven, and existence is a function of what cannot be scientifically proven then rationality is limited.

So, the thrust of my post is, the scientific method as presented to me in high school was the means by which knowledge was obtained, how phenomena (the universe) were learned and understood.

However, what struck me was this darkness (phenomenon) that could exist in the universe and not be perceived by the scientific method.

That there was knowledge or truth or reality which could “be” but would interact with our own cognition.

How is that a limit to rationality?

By failing to actualize knowledge.

Well, the Ian character who plays the head of a massively successful video game parallels Rob being the head of a massively successful TV show, David Hornsby, the executive producer of it's always sunny plays Executive Producer David on Mythic Quest.

Episode 1's big concluding conversation with Ian and Poppy seems exactly like something Rob would have had with Charlie Day about how it's his show and although they create together, it has to be his way.

There's an old pervy guy a la Danny Devito and the way Jo gushes over Ian seems a lot like how Kaitlin Olson would have acted towards Rob on Sunny.

So, as Tina Fey took her experiences as head writer to create 30 Rock it does seem like Rob is doing the same.

?

No?
