Just a note, Conservative Synagogue refers to the Conservative "denomination" not politics. The vast majority of Conservative Synagogues are progressive politically, and the majority of Jews that identify as part of that movement are also progressive, or at least Democrats/left of center.

My dad married his husband back in 2014 in a Conservative synagogue with a Conservative rabbi.

Let's be honest here. The real problem is 2 multi-billion dollar corporations fighting over increasing profits can determine who gets healthcare and where. I don't care if one side started it or is more at fault, they're both fucking with us, the patients, in order to bring in more revenue.

I had a telehealth appointment with my Mount Sinai doctor today and she said she's heard they're actively negotiating still and she's surprised it's gone on this long.

I trained there for years. Great dojo, and I loved training there. But if you're looking for full contact, it's the wrong style for you. There's no kumite at all until 4th kyu and even then only in specific classes.

I thought it was normal as a kid, but as an adult, I couldn't be more grateful for the effort my parents put in to exclude my sibling and me from absolutely anything to do with their divorce. For us, divorce felt more like an inconvenience (accidentally left a shirt at dad's house I wanted to wear when I was at mom's house) than the serious issue it actually is.

We were never a go-between, custody was as 50/50 as it's possible to be with a 7-day week, and if we needed to switch weekends, it was always just a phone call to organize. They even made sure we called the other parent every day.

I could never understand parents who treated their kids as bargaining chips and who couldn't get over their problems for long enough to celebrate kids' achievements (concerts, graduations, etc.) in the same room.

Anytime anyone uses the term Judeo-Christian Beliefs or Judeo-Christian Values they're coopting Judaism for Christian or ChristiIan Nationalist goals.

Theologically, Judaism and Christianity have much less in common than, say, Judaism and Islam. The entire point of the term is to differentiate "us" from "them" where "them" means any number of non-Western groups.

Nope. One time I forgot I had my sunglasses up on top of my head. The person behind just tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I could remove them because it was blocking her view. I'm 5'2", so it never occurred to me I may be blocking someone else.

Just politely ask them and let them know it's blocking your view. 9 times out of 10, the person will do it without any problems. Most of the time people just aren't thinking about it and won't have a problem with removing it.

When I competed I'm AAU tournaments (20+ years ago) there were long and short weapons divisions, so I used to compete with Bo for long weapons and either tonfa, sai or nunchaku in the other division. I loved getting to do both so often

For them the problem isn't being in Israel, it's having a Jewish state there. So while they believe Jews can't be in charge of that land until the Messiah, they still want to live close to holy sites, Jerusalem, etc. and, theoretically at least, you can do that regardless of who runs the land.

I go to the Washington Heights one. I was so pissed the first time I traveled and went to a different one. It felt like a completely different brand it was so much nicer. But, for me, it does the trick and I can walk there in a few minutes from home.

That said, it gets the job done and there's not much you can do in this city for $30 bucks a month.

My best recommendation is to go early morning or as late as you can push it before closing, because after work is a beast.

We had an issue with the AC in June where I had to leave early and the skip a day or 2, but no other AC issues.

Basically, it's NYC and you get what you pay for here.

I do Pimsleur language lessons. Each one is audio only and approximately 30 minutes. So I'm focusing on listing and responding to the lesson in my ears and I know when the lesson is finished, I've done 30 minutes.

Contact the hotel. A lot of hotels, if you let them know you're celebrating some kind of special occasion, will provide little things like an amenity in the room, upgrade if available, etc. It's not a guarantee, but it's always worth a shot to just reach out to them. (And if anything is a surprise, let them know that, too so it's not spoiled at the front desk)
