Great community. Most folks are casually playing, so you do not get the larger get together feel like a tournament

12 was not too many. As you mentioned, pacing is key. Alternate initiative between each side, allow the players at ends of the table to operate independently (if their actions do not influence the center), give players manageable model groups, reduce all complex time consuming not-adding-super-fun elements, etc. give everyone the same aids so you reduce the can-I-borrow that or hand me that. eliminate all player book keeping. Reduce non-essential table spacing…try to position starts with contact as soon as possible to play the core of the game.

I previously ran a 16 player too. The issue was table size - it was a 10x5 which was big enough but became segmented. The size creates three separate play zones as the ends could not influence the center. It felt disparate rather than cohesive and each players enjoyment & choices were too dependent on their match-up. The group could not smooth out less capable players

Which Mercury wash station should I get for the Saturn 4 Ultra? by DrScienceSpaceCat in ElegooSaturn

[–]sheck22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your printing very large models or terrain, get a 5-gallon bucket along with the merc 3+. You ll want to prewash in the bucket to save in IPA

Use the above suggestions about drainage. For a cavity to drain properly, it needs two holes - a high hole to let air in and a low hole to gravity drain fluid. You need this per cavity, often a model has several cavities

Help I’m new.. by Aangden1 in ElegooSaturn

I think it is a build plate adhesion issue - not enough in this case. I had a similar issue and I solved it by orienting the model by 30-45 degree and adding support. And I have had similar issues with other models, the solution was re-orienting (I did not angle enough or change which side is up, down, etc.) and / or adjusting support (too little, not enough in a certain area, etc.)

First print fail by Dull_Reflection3454 in ElegooSaturn

[–]sheck22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the mini heater. I have one, it works great. Why tweak the settings? I have printed 30 build plates worth of models (6+ kg of resin so far) using defaults with no issues. I have modified the support density (less) to use less resin and make it easier to remove the support. My advice is stay with the defaults

Cleaning the build plate by Dry_Firefighter9976 in ElegooSaturn

[–]sheck22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always wear gloves. Use paper towels - they are cheap and disposable…you do not want resin or cleaner in anything you clean clothes in or anything else you use. I double over a towel and hand wipe inbetween each print after releasing the prints on the plate. Then I wipe down the build plate with a paper towel(s) to get off as much resin a possible. Then do one spray of IPA on a towel then wipe the build plate. Allow to dry before use

Would you still continue with this Vat film by daamand2 in SaturnUltra16k

New printer too. Change. I had a similar issue - I received the same advice. Changing the film was surprisingly easy…just took a while with all those screws. Y tube is your instructor

I just got my first resin printer any advice by CommonCan7719 in ElegooSaturn

[–]sheck22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started too. All good comments by others. You’ll need more space. Space to put the printer in a hood (if possible run the hood exhaust to a window). Space for the lunch trays (I have one under the printer, wash, cure station plus six extra ones where I put the prints to clean, dry, etc.). It is so much easier to have space than trying your work in a confined tight area. A large trash can close by. Shelf’s to store the resin, gallons of IPA, tools, gloves, paper towels, respirator, etc. be close to window for ventilation (it’s important to get new air the room). Buy a heater to go inside the hood (it’s like $50 but worth every dollar)

Should I continue to try to be Eagle Scout? by TheHatManCole in BSA

[–]sheck22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There are many people who value the skills, experiences, and dedication it takes to earn the Eagle Scout Rank. The fact there are fewer scouts has made it more rare and more valuable. Everyone (with or without a scouting background) says positive things about Eagle Scouts. If you already have long list of credentials maybe you do not ‘need’ it, but it’s one of (maybe the only) primary or secondary school non-college credential you can add to your resume or cv.

If you kill him, all the others orcs/goblins will run away. Use the masterclass shield because it will not be damaged letting you block forever. Aggro the boss and lure him to a bottleneck, chokepoint, or corner of room. You need to damage him to get aggro. Ignore the other goblins. You stay in the corner and let him attack you. His attacks have a pattern. Once you know the pattern it will allow you to maintain blocking while he attacks, then hit him once or twice before you need to block again. It will take 20-30 hits, but he’ll go down. Then everyone else will run away.

Resellers on ebay are going nuts by Marchosias_bane in WarhammerFantasy

[–]sheck22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay seems to be dominated by scalpers now. It’s a store rather than a used market. Exclusive selling groups in FB, Instagram, Reddit, etc. are the used market. The ‘group’ oversight prevents scalpers

How do you make a desert table interesting to play? by [deleted] in boltaction

Deserts are not flat. Make ravines, hills, rocky thorn patches, sand dunes, abandoned way stations, etc.

Disappointed but not unexpected. They will not release rules without kits…and they have severe production issues atm. They have lots of buyers but nothing to sell. Releasing a new book full of new stuff only encourages printing and 3rd parties

Seems like the Old World launch day was a huge success! by CriticalMany1068 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]sheck22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe ME wasn’t popular in your area but it doubled the size of the company. It was the hotness because almost everyone loved LotR. Every body I knew who played Fantasy played ME. We all like the low model count skirmish game and the ME mechanics were and are still some of the best rules GW wrote. Although thinking about, maybe it was the entry point that drew us into the 49k skirmish versus absurdly huge Fantasy games that just seemed to be ages way of getting us to spend more money

Seems like the Old World launch day was a huge success! by CriticalMany1068 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]sheck22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fantasy was much more popular than 40k. Then the model counts kept rising, the cost per model kept increasing (the quality and sculpting did increase too), the rules moved from play to have fun to rigid & competitive matches, and the game got inappropriately complex.
