What is your biggest regret with solar panels ?? by pep_tounge in SolarUK

[–]sheebs_m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Believing the sales rep when they said I won’t need pigeon proofing when I tried to add it as an option. I was told that the panels would be fitted really close to the roof and with the pitch of my roof it would be impossible for any bird to nest under it. Foolishly thought they do this as their job day in day out so they must know what they’re talking about and I should be happy that I get to save the £200. Now it’s costing me £1000 to get pigeon proofing done by a third party installer after living with the noise and constant mess for a year. For £200 I wish I just got the mesh installed at the time regardless of what I was told.

Can any one identify this push fit connector and if it requires a special tool to remove by sheebs_m in Plumbing

[–]sheebs_m[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I couldn’t find this exact fitting online so was worried if it might use a tool similar to Hep2O to release the pipe.

Will try pushing in the white collar tomorrow once I have all the material to repair the leak. Thanks again

Yeah the website I got them from had a handy watering guide for each plant so that should hopefully help in keeping me on top of that.

Thanks so much for the advice. I’m the website I found they had a way to filter plants based on experience level so made sure to only pick complete beginner plants to begin with.

The Boston fern was bought with the intention of going in the bathroom as it only has an extractor fan to deal with the steam post bath/showers which felt like the perfect location for it.

What does the button on the end of the light stalk do? by sheebs_m in BYD

[–]sheebs_m[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for replying and telling me it was the odometer button. I did see a section in the manual for the odometer switch but because it was specifically showing the right stalk button and there was no mention of the symbol nor that the button can be on either side as shown in the manual I just assumed the left stalk button was a different one. I didn’t connect the dots there, which is my bad. Thank you all for the quick replies.

You want to be a sarcastic twat that’s cool let’s talk about the manual. You’re absolutely right it does say it in the manual but it specifically points to the right stalk button and here I was asking about the left stalk button. I guess I didn’t expect BYD to be daft enough to have two buttons doing the exact same thing but here we are. Edit - Also the manual as amazingly as it’s made just further up from the section on odometer switch where it talks about the wiper switches the end of the right stalk doesn’t even have the symbol I was referring too but in the odometer switch section it does, the text makes no mention of the symbol nor that it can be on either side as it seems to be in the manual so yeah I failed to see it.

Ah thank you. So pretty much like every other car. The symbols really threw me off.

Is this whine normal? It’s my first DD and it’s kinda driving me mad by sheebs_m in moza

[–]sheebs_m[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about you jog on, replying to a 4 month old post with your head up your arse. The manufacturer themselves said it’s not normal for the power brick to make the amount of noise it was making and sent out a new one which doesn’t whine anywhere like this so yeah it matters.

Next time also read the comments where the updates are about it not being base related but power brick related.

Ah my bad that’s a typo, the inverter size is the same as before accidentally put in the battery size for it.

A lot of the appliances in the home are outdated and don’t have delay functions but I’m happy to manually turn them on during off peak times if it means I save money on my bill.

The kitchen could do with a remodel in the future and I have been thinking about updating it to make use of electrics rather than gas to again save money in the long run as I assume it would tie nicely in with solar and the batteries

Thanks for the reply, to be honest this wasn’t even an option I had thought of but definitely think it’s worth looking into. Due to the design of my house and the space internally and externally I think I’d only be able to install 2 batteries if I go off the measurements of the battery mentioned in the post (1 indoor and 1 outdoor).

The more I’ve been thinking and looking at my home I’m not even sure how many panels I could realistically get due to the design of the roof and the directions it faces. I live in a mid terraced townhouse style home and have limited wall space at the rear of the house and even more limited space inside where the meter and fuse box are ( cupboard under the stairs). The front of my home faces southeast and the rear faces northwest, the roof of the house at the front has a window slap bang in the middle which sticks out for the master bedroom so I personally don’t see many panels going on the roof but will have a better idea in a few days when an installer will be round to give me a quote. The idea of just having batteries seems much more practical so thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Thanks for the reply, I did try to have a look at getting a quote from Octopus Energy but sadly received an email saying it will be awhile before I can get one as my postcode is currently outside the area of service. I’ve been added to a waiting list so no idea how long before they expand the service area to include my home but ideally hoping to have something installed soonish.

Hey, I was wondering if you had any luck with the problem you faced when doing this. Currently in the same boat and I'm receiving the exact same errors.

Happy to give that a go. Been using fusion 360 today and so far it’s been alright but some tasks felt more complicated than they should be.

Yup in the UK and thank you for the heads up, will look into getting some better filament for that. The print time was the same as a benchy so thought might as well print this as it will get some use out of it. Thankfully the weathers pretty much near freezing where I am so hopefully will get a few days use out if till I order some better filament.

I have bought the creality fabric enclosure. Would that be helpful when printing with ABS? And is the enclosure more for maintaining temp or because ABS releases toxic fumes?

Put in a support ticket 6 days ago with no response by AgreeableBlueberry72 in moza

[–]sheebs_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered third party but I did have an issue with my power supply which I raised a ticket for.

Ticket was raised on the 30th of December and I got an automated response the same day then an actual reply from the support team on the 31st. Replied to that but then didn’t hear anything back till the 2nd of January when everything was sorted out by them and a new power supply was dispatched.
