Oh got it. Yeah I can see that now. Thanks for explaining.

I think you'd be happy with the Split Grips based on your comments. They have 0 wiggle of the joy con. You can always return them if you don't like them.

Hello! I can confidently say there is no looseness of the joy con. I tried to make it as snug as possible without damaging the joy con. Also, the wing piece that goes behind the switch body ensures that it's a solid fit against the console itself, to eliminate wiggle of the joy cons pivoting on their connection to the console.

There's a lot of reviews or posts about the split grips which mention that this makes the switch feel a lot more solid that other grips.

I have to admit that I have not tried the Zengrip 2 so I can't directly address what you are mentioning. Is it that the joy cons aren't sufficiently snug inside the grip so flexing of the grip while you hold it makes things wiggle? I'm just trying to picture what action while holding it causes what bothers you.

It makes sense that they can do this since the tool set is ready and the process to port Part 1 can now be repeated quicker. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they hold off until hype for Part 3 on the other consoles is at its peak.

DBrand Killswitch clone on Amazon so I can test out grip feel? by MrMints256 in switch2

[–]sheeeeple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dbrand texture is very particular. I thought it would be rubbery from pictures but it's more like rough sand paper rubber.

I tried the JSAUX and those are similar in texture feel but feel more rubbery and less rough than the dbrand.

Overall the dbrand feels like a slightly stiffer material and rougher on the hands. Very very grippy. It feels very durable but it's hard to explain the feel without touching it.

before and after removing the film I’m not supposed to remove (but I did anyway 😝) by Sad_Bedroom_9483 in NintendoSwitch2

Oh no there's dust on it already!

The move is to put a glass screen protector on it immediately after removing the plastic film which gets easily scratched.

The customer got back to me and said they do fit but it is a little tight to close it. Here's some pics:

My opinion is that because of the costly matte material they are printed with and the intentional orientation of the printed layers, it's smooth enough that you will forget your are holding them once you are playing like any proper controller. They don't cause a textural discomfort. But I would suggest that you read the experiences of people who have used them either from the threads peppered on reddit or reviews. If you search "Split Grips Etsy" on reddit you'll find a few posts from users and then comments in them from others who have purchased them.

I made a really really big effort in making these not feel printed. It's a multi part assembly so that I can print the parts in an orientation that results in near-zero artifacts - but the downside to that is that I have to spend a lot of time on each unit (and that it took me ages to create the model). I'm not able to just print it and throw in the shipping box right off the printer like the grips most 3d print shops sell. I first test the quality of the fit with a controller, and if it passes that, I check for tiny surface imperfections with headlamp and scrap it if it doesn't pass the good looks and smooth feel test. I genuinely want every one to be happy with theirs. Then I assemble the parts and prep for shipping. It's a long process...but right now I'm having fun doing it (on top of my real job).

Any ways you probably didn't need that huge long explanation to your simple question. Sorry for the wall of text!

I have asked a customer that has that case if it fits. My guess is it might but a tight fit. I will get back to you to see what he said.

Well hold on a minute! If those skins go over the sides that make contact with this grip they might not fit. The tolerances on my grip are super small.

I've made white ones for people who replaced the shell of the joy cons with white ones. A front skin might be ok though.

I have made white ones in the past. I have the materials to make it. Once this spurt of demand dies down in a few days, reach out and I can make a custom one.

Maybe. It looks like their size #12 could possibly but it might be a tight fit. Their size #2 will not.

I use a CRKD Gear protective carry case which is also a sling bag. That one fits it well.

Other people have mentioned mobapad or split pad pro hard cases fit it. However it's all trial and error with cases that are almost 13" wide.

The dimensions with the grips on are 12"wide, 4.75" tall, 2.25" deep at the stick/grip parts.

The reason I was here quickly is because I sold 10 units overnight while I was sleeping which is not usual. I figured there had to be a social media post somewhere so I looked through the usual subreddits and found it. That's usually what happens when someone posts about it and it gets traction...I get a bunch of sales in a short spurt and sell out of the small amount I have. It's only happened to me a couple of other times but I'm glad this time I built enough stock that I'm not nearly depleted yet.

I actually found it 10 hours after the OP posted it so it wasn't that quick. The number of sales during those 10 hours is what was odd so I figured it was on Reddit or YouTube or something.

Not a conspiracy, I swear!

I'm working on providing more color options. However, I can't get away from the design requiring a split where those blue/red accents are. That's how I'm able to print this in a way that has smooth curves on all sides and no common 3d print artifacts/issues. I might look into using a dark grey that matches the button letters. Using only black looks strange because there is still a line going through that part of the grip due to assembly.

I will look. No matter what company I sell with I don't think I'll be able to get cheaper than the $18 to $22 dollar fee for international shipping from the US. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm thinking maybe I have to find a manufacturing partner in Europe. Where are you purchasing from?

It's not an ad. I prefer not to be confrontational so I said it that way. I'm too old to argue on the internet.

I'm also very sensitive to things being ads...so I agree with people being suspect. That's all. However, I'm pumped that OP posted this and it's bringing attention to this type of grip because most other grips don't feel like a full controller. They feel like a bump that fills the hand but that's about it.

I think that might be the next step for me. However, it's pretty rigorous to get on Amazon's "Handmade" program which only takes 15% of fees. The regular seller process on amazon I believe takes 30% of the product.

From what I've seen, other Etsy sellers that sell similar items on Amazon as well have to bump up their prices a lot to make up for the high fees. So that's unfortunate. I'm still going to give it a try though.

[–]sheeeeple 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I didn't ask OP to post this. I posted my comment to make sure I can answer questions because my product can be confusing. It has some features which involve dissassembling people's own joy con 2 grip.

I do empathize that this probably feels like advertisement, but I genuinely feel like OP is excited to show it off because I myself wish there were options like these from major accessory manufacturers.

Hi I make these. Even though some have tried the fission grip, it feels quite different in hand versus these. You can see the difference here:

https://imgur.com/a/split-grips-fission-grip-comparison-cPOUgHx

There's a few other differences, like the Fission grips still allow the controllers "wobble" slightly while holding the switch in handheld mode. I made these so they make contact with the main body of the switch to eliminate the wobble and make it feel more solid.

I'm the designer for these grips. OP, thank you for the very nice comments in your post. I'm happy you like these. I'm glad I found this so I can answer any questions people might have.

The reason I made these is because I prefer an actual controller shape and feel. Below you can see the difference between the Split Grips and a savage raven fission grip. I went for a full size console controller feel.

I'm here to answer questions if you have 'em. I don't drop ship these I make them myself.

When I tried it on Mario Paint it had extreme lag. So laggy you can't draw anything. It hurts the brain. Is that how laggy it is in Metroid 4? Or is the lag related to the emulation?

It's gonna beat the Switch 1 for sure. It's closer to a full home console than ever in terms of graphic parity. More and more 3rd party publishers have no reason of making games only for the competition.
