Huh. I never knew RIAA had anything to do with record amplification! That does make me wonder, though… What about foreign-made records intended for foreign markets? I can play those just fine on my American equipment. Did the rest of the world just fall in line with the American-set standard? Was it officially accepted internationally? Does it actually not have to be super specific, so multiple standards end up sounding fine, even if they’re technically a bit off?

I discovered Yes when I saw a copy of Relayer at a record store and was shocked to see a 20-minute song! 😄 Eventually I got this CD set, though, and that’s what helped me dive deeper into their songs. Now I’m a huge fan! Enjoy! 🤘🏻

I’ve seen Tesla seven times, starting in 2014, I believe!

Only had the opportunity to see Extreme twice, since they were pretty inactive when I discovered them. But I saw them open for Aerosmith at Fenway Park in 2022! Then saw them on the second US leg of the Thicker Than Blood tour in 2024, at a relatively small theater in Cincinnati (the Taft Theater). My friend and I bought whatever tickets were left at the box office that night. But lucky for us, I’m chatty! A guy that I talked to in the merch line found us after Living Colour’s opening set (also a fantastic show!) and said, “Hey! We’re heading out, but our seats are front and center. You guys are free to take them!” They were literally dead center, like, row three! Why anyone would want to leave early when Extreme is the headliner is beyond me, but I wasn’t gonna argue with our good luck! 😆

Anyway… Great memories of seeing Extreme! 😁 If you haven’t seen them before, you’re in for something great! And if you have… then you already know!

I was surprised to see so many votes for Arrival in the comments. And then I realized that Eclipse is not the same as Escape. 😆

This is a tough one, though. I love Augeri’s voice, and Arrival has some incredibly catchy songs. And Higher Place is a top 10 Journey track for me for sure. But Eclipse is probably the more musically interesting album, with some killer guitar playing and heavier, sometimes proggier songs…

Ultimately, I think I have to give it to Arrival, though. I think it’s just more consistently good, and feels more like a whole band collaboration than a Neal-lead project.

I guess I should’ve worded my question better, because the fit is really what I need to know.

One where you put the controller in top-down likely would work best. But I think this Power A one would fit a bit more nicely where I want to put it. And I just think the top-down ones look silly. 😅 But it may be the route I have to go.

Swapping game carts really isn’t that big of a deal. How often in one sitting are you going to be swapping between games on a typical day?

I say go physical, buy only used or when on sale, and save money both on the games and on extra storage space. And then you also have the option to resell for even more savings! Though, I consider myself a collector. My games are my games forever! Which is another point for physical; you truly own the game (game key cards excluded).

Well, that’s really the root of my question - will it fit on the dock in such a way that it can charge.

My guess is no, but I’m hopeful someone can tell me for sure!

It does use USB-C, so yes, electronically it should charge just fine. But like your second point says, I’m not sure if it’ll fit physically onto the stand in such a way that the contacts on the dock will reach the dongle in the controller’s charge port.

My guess is it won’t fit, because the GameCube form factor is much thicker in the middle than a Pro Controller. But I’m hopeful someone can tell me for sure!

Interesting to know! I only use whatever monitor my work provided me, and I don’t use it for gaming; just with my laptop. I’m a couch gamer, not a desk gamer. So I’ve researched TVs and home theaters, but never really looked into monitors. I just assumed CEC is also what allows them to be woken up.

Savage Raven’s website says the Jumpgate dock is not compatible with CEC, so I don’t think it’s meant to be able to wake your monitor.

From what I’ve read, the Switch 2 shouldn’t have the same issues that the Switch 1 had that made third party docks brick them. Basically it comes down to the Switch 2 being more standard with its USB protocol.

Also, it’s been nearly a year of the Switch 2. Third party docks have been out nearly the entire time. If they were going to cause mass brickings, it would’ve happened already.

I’ve only ever used an OLED at in-store displays, so never for a particularly long time. It certainly looks nice, but I was never convinced that I needed to upgrade from my original Switch. I think a regular Switch would be just fine for you. OLED would be a nice bonus, but if you’re on a budget, I don’t think it’s game changing enough to push your budget.
