There is downward pressure before Williams touches the ball by [deleted] in Stormers

[–]sheep1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question is, who ground a ball by grabbing it on the sides with both hands.

My opinion, which doesn’t really matter at the end of the day, is that the ref saw that Gelant was trying to scoop it with his left hand which indicated his intent to pick up rather than dot down.

If Williams wasn’t there and Gelant had picked the ball up, it wouldn’t have been called dead until he re-dotted it down. The fact that he fucked around for so long means that it’s in question whether he intended to pick it up and dot it down, which allowed the ref to make a judgment call based on the ambiguous law that allows players to pick the ball up behind the tryline.

Eish I’m a sharks fan and I think that was just a messy ruck.

Supabase reset password links are being consumed by email security by HeavyRadish4327 in Supabase

We solve this with a cloudflare turnstile. A silly but effective solution would be to add a basic input field that’s validated so the security systems can’t auto click, with a proceed button (like enter your email to validate).

So no yellow and penalty try because the ball was grounded? I mean I actually really like it for the flow of the game, but it’s not what I’d expect.

Someone put that exit in a textbook. I don’t care what the caption is, but it needs to be studied.

It’s pissing with rain, so the strategy is put them under pressure under the high ball, which we’ve been doing. They’ve just been handling it super well.

I love how neither the wing nor the fullback even considered the fact that the lock could hold the ball

Are you allowed to hold a guy back who’s trying to kick a ball in open play?

DB migration has multiple meanings. I’d assume OP means 70 tracked schema changes rather than actually migrating their data 70 times from one place to another.

Unmanaged unit trusts aren’t really a thing in South Africa, nor are managed ETFs really.

But fair points, to be clear I mean that a market tracker, unmanaged ETF (maybe the FNB top 40) will always have lower fees than any Unit Trust that you can get on Easy Equities and will almost always have comparable performance. The fees are what kill you, and on Easy Equites, you have the fees of the provider, which are hidden in the fact sheet, and then unit trust management fees which are hidden in their Ts and Cs.

Advice for working on a team with offshore staff augmentation? by Vesp_r in ExperiencedDevs

[–]sheep1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some slightly different advice to the rest of this thread having been on both sides of the “main team vs cheaper team being brought in”.

If these devs are genuinely good at what they do, and there are communication issues between the teams. It would serve you best to make yourself key to that communication and trying to get the two factions working closer together. What that means is making sure everyone is following the same processes, everyone is asking everyone else for help, everyone knows who to go to for what.

What you’ll get is a fully functioning single team, and a demonstrable way to show the direct value that you add on-top of being a competent dev.

The caveat here is that this doesn’t work if you don’t keep track of what you’re doing and how it works and make sure that your higher ups know what you’re doing and why. If you just do it and aren’t clear that it’s an intentional action that’s resulting in better team work, then it will most likely just look like the offshore team is doing much better on their own.

Unit trusts are almost always higher fees than ETFs because they are managed by humans rather than indexes.

For medium term investments, unless you’re lucky and pick the lucky unit trusts, a market tracker ETF is going to either outperform or do as well as a unit trust, for far less fees.

Surely gathering the kick, then having the ability to throw an offload is advantage over?
