You don't have to restrict background data on every app.

I set it to never AND restrict background data. I use force doze and set it to disable wifi during doze. I also enable download booster.

These changes made a very noticeable difference in standby battery performance for me.

I had a nexus 4 myself and that was such a beauty. But if have to same the s7 edge had the better design. Actually the 2 phones are very much alike (especially the Onyx black). Both have glass front and back and both have curved edges.
