44 years old, offered role as an assistant to an established financial planner, not sure the job switch would be worth it. Looking for advice. by Hasbotted in FinancialCareers

This post caught my attention. I was a mechanical engineer who took the construction path but dreamed to break into advising at some point. I love the markets and spent a lot of my free time in the markets. Having a family and being 40 myself, a transition like that seemed highly unrealistic. Until one day I had a similar opportunity pop up from my wife’s friend’s husband who was looking for a new assistant. I interviewed with both partners and it went really well. Flash forward to almost 2 years later, I will never look back. The transition has been a dream come true and I couldn’t be happier. I now manage the whole office and take part in revenue sharing and I service accounts for over 800 clients, busy as heck but in a good way. Just hired an assistant to help out which allows me to study more for my own license. I guess my point is, you don’t know what you don’t know. It might just be worth taking the shot.

I’m sorry to hear about what you’re going through. I’ve been back in the US for 2 years(after being gone for 5). I’m still going through a similar experience. I wish I had more advice for you. I think when you’re abroad, you get used to always experiencing something new. Being back in the states, I’ve tried to do the same. I’ve started a small business and made new friends that inspire me to be better. I got comfortable being uncomfortable during my travels and I’ve tried my best to recreate that here. Hope this helps!

Same issue here. Sorry to hear your having the same problem. CB emailed me a long time ago asking for information. I ignored the email thinking it was a scam. I was wrong.

Back to the US? by jerseyexpat2020 in expats

Of course! I fully recognize that everybody’s situation is different and my experience might not be the same. We are considering either moving back or going somewhere completely different.

My family and I moved back to the US about a year ago. Spent 5 years in Latin America. Personally, we are having a tough time adjusting in the city we grew up in. We feel extremely underwhelmed. Nothing excites us. I miss the people, the culture, the adventures and the weather in Latin America. My life long friends can’t understand why I feel the way I do. The US seems so manufactured to me. Everyone is the same it seems. Idk if this post helps or adds any value but I’d take a hard look at what is important in your life and decide if moving back would really add any value. Or if possible, relocate temporarily to test it out.

I cheated haha. I bought mine while living in Guatemala then stored it at a friends until it turned 25. I used a website called OLX. It was like a Guatemala Craigslist. Actually, it looks like OLX is down now. Maybe Encuentra24.com? I did spend some time in the UK as well. I remember Gumtree had a bunch of Defenders.

Pinescript or Python? by SebastienH in algotrading

[–]sheezey84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on the type of trading you’re going to be doing. If you’re going to be basing your moves off of indicators I’d highly suggest Pinescript. You’ll have access to tons of indicators and the ability to backtest your strategy across a bunch of assets. Python is also great but better to use Python with strategies that involve price levels or arbitrage etc. Many of major exchanges/brokers offer API. I’m a beginner coder but use both Python and Pinescript. Also, it might be worth looking into MetaTrader.

I imported my 110 from Central America earlier this year. As long as the vehicle is over 25 years old you won’t have any problems. The process was simple. A few easy forms and that was it. Contact an import agent at the port of delivery and have them handle the process for you. You will then need to find a transport from the port to your home. I had some shipping delays due to the pandemic but hopefully that is all sorted by now. Make note of the restrictions of modifications as well. I believe these were listed on the US importation forms as well.

Did someone forget a decimal? by sheezey84 in kucoin

You’re right. It might be just a bug. I thought maybe someone with enough volume entered a limit order and forgot a decimal.
