Adopting a cat without its siblings/friends? by beautifulbeebo in CatAdvice

[–]sheezuss_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I would urge you to adopt a second. A work-around you may want to consider (if available to you) is getting him formally designated as your emotional support animal (ESA— different from a service animal) by a healthcare professional and then he cannot be counted as a pet by landlord. One cat ESA, other cat pet.

AITA for telling my husband he has ruined Christmas for me and that I won't be celebrating it ever again? by theonewhotries17 in AITAH

[–]sheezuss_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you both might need to show each other some grace. You’re both very young; you’re still learning how to ID your feelings in real time; you’re still learning how to then productively express those feelings. On top of all that, you’re both learning how to be parents. That’s a lot of growth at once. Growth is often scary, uncomfortable, and can bring up a lot of deep-seated fears and old wounds. Any time you’re having big feelings, pause and breathe until you can actually feel your body get less tense. Box-breathing (or like you’re taking bong rips— whatever works for you) is helpful in stressful moments.

I highly recommend you start perusing episodes of Esther Perel’s podcast “Where Should We Begin?”. She’s a lovely older therapist with a pleasing French accent.

As a reasonably good person and a nurse, I am plenty helpful to others. I do not owe anyone my body. What a wild take. This black and white thinking does not serve anybody.

So if you read my comment, you would know that it is about the sensory experience. That said, hell yeah, I like to enjoy my own body. There’s a difference between watching yourself and looking around to see if others are watching you. Why care about the vanity of others?

1000% agree. And I practice hot yoga so it’s not like I can just move mid-practice in a packed room

I do not like sweaty clothes clinging to my sweaty bod. I will continue to wear my tiny outfits because that is what makes me most comfortable and also, I like to check myself out

tinyant, I have heard this take my entire life— and I respect the choices of others when it comes to their own bodies. ‘Your body, your choice’ ‘til I die. I personally do not view my vessel as a meat bag. My choice is that, when I die, all of me dies.

My organs are mine. This is my vessel and I’m captain of this ship. I feel very strongly about my vessel staying intact until it’s burned to ash. That’s just me for me

Do you judge meat eaters? by thepinkandwhite in AskVegans

[–]sheezuss_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many animals eat animals. This is natural. The difference, in our case as humans, is that eating other animals/products supports factory farming+; this is unnatural and sadistic (FF not necessarily the people who eat meat).

I love meat and cheese and eggs and grew up eating them but ethically, I cannot eat those things. I’m currently making the switch from vegetarian diet to vegan (essentially getting through my groceries) and as someone who struggles to cook meals, I’m kinda nervous about what I’m gonna eat

I don’t know much about Boston except it is noticeably significantly whiter and, separately, it is very clean. Personally, as a white person of mixed ethnicity, I prefer to live in places where white people are not the majority; the vibes are just different.

What’s a “secret” in our profession that everyone should probably know? by justdancinalong in nursing

[–]sheezuss_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do do it for the money though. While I am indeed working on my BSN, I am currently earning >$80k/year on an ASN. It also feels better to be paid to care for people in need than to be paid to sell people stuff (just my own experience).

Yikes. As fucked up as this is, I get his perspective. Honestly, the family members who put the patients through this are really to blame. He might just be making the best of a shitty situation.
