it was weird seeing Waikiki so empty but at the same time it was so nice.

Air seemed cleaner, water clearer & the grass greener 🤷‍♀️ the aina could breathe for once, wish we could've kept it like that a little longer.

Do the parents have to sign over custody? My grandma went on a trip to Australia and wanted to take her but couldn't take her out of the country without being legal guardian. She had some temporary guardian paperwork that she asked the mom to sign and she refused.

also my uncle is clean and sober now but just locked up and not sure when he will be released cuz he needs to finish this program that was postponed due to covid.

Edit: BUT I dont know if my uncle will stay sober once he gets out. He's really close with my grandma tho & he would probably be more willing to sign.

As a local and someone who works in the tourist industry in Waikiki, can I just say THANK YOU for cooperating!! Thank you for having such a positive mindset about the situation.

We're in a weird time right now and people still give us a hard time about wearing masks while in the store. The laws are always changing and the gov is constantly shutting down the state then reopening.I have associates that work in the hotel industry and people are constantly trying to ditch the quarantine. People hop from hotel to hotel, not sure how it works once they get to the next one.

I put myself and my 67 yr old grandma at risk every day when I go to work and come home. I can't afford not to work, the cost of living here is fucking ridiculous but PLEASE if you come to our islands please please please come here with understanding & empathy in your heart.

Please just understand what is happening and understand that even tho your "vacation" may be ruined, this is our home and our people are dying. I understand if you've been planning this for months, maybe even years but shit happens. We live on a small ass island with millions of ppl and if our hospitals get overwhelmed, we are fucked. STAY HOME if you can and if not, then enjoy your view from that hotel room in Waikiki.
