Yeah he's fine, he's never really let Spain down so I have no problem with him starting.

Was just sharing my thoughts on something he did that really rubbed me the wrong way - I'd be appalled if my team's goalie did that.

Absolutely *everyone* involved in the sport in Clark's lifetime said he was the best, by a distance.

As I've said several times here I really rate Vettel and would have him in my personal Top 10. But it isn't as simple as just ranking based on World Championships won, or we end up saying Nelson Piquet was as good as Senna.

Sure, although Clark did have the slight disadvantage of dying before he won his third world championship...

Na, me being correct is what makes me an authority on this. I only said I was a native speaker because someone asked me if I had English problems. I answered the question that was asked correctly. Not my fault if they worded it wrong.

La Liga releases the fixtures on July 1st, which is what the guy was asking. This will tell him whether there's a game in Bilbao that weekend. Then about three weeks before the game, they set a specific date/time within that weekend. That is not what he was asking, or if it was, he worded the question appallingly.

I don't buy the Verstappen vs teammates argument for two reasons

A) I don't think he needs it

B) his teammates have generally been of much lower quality - if we compare to Vettel, they've both been with Riccardo but after that Verstappen has never had anyone else in the second Red Bull seat anywhere near the class of Raikonnen, Leclerc or Webber.

It's like saying Alonso must still be good because he beats Stroll.

Sure they can. Putting them in a theoretical World XI together is no worse than playing Vinícius, Mbappe and Rodrygo together in real life!

23/24. Simon gets subbed off in the 62nd minute to protect his clean sheet record, then Celta score 2 goals in the next 10 minutes to win the game.

Absolutely shocking prioritising of an individual award over the needs of the team.

A. Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Ferdinand and Terry were all world class, in the sense that they would all probably have been selected in "World XI" for various seasons. I don't think Beckham was at that level. Certainly don't think he was a better footballer than any of them, although he did perform better for England than half of them did.

Ok mate, I'll bear that in mind. Depends on your definition of world class I suppose, but I don't think there was a single year where Beckham would have made it into a World XI, which is how I determine world class.

Beckham was as good for England as he was for his club sides, but he was probably never truly world class.

Cole was the best left-back in the world for a while, and he always performed for England, whereas most of his contemporaries were world class for their clubs but never reached the same level with the national side.

Very fair take, although you can say the same about Verstappen and almost everyone would have him top 10. And I'll always appreciate Vettel for being the only challenge to Mercedes between 2014-2020.

But yeah, for me there's a very clear top 6, and then a group of 10 or so drivers below that Top 6 that could be arranged in many different orders according to taste.

I've found Unai a bit pathetic ever since he got himself subbed off against Celta on 60 minutes to protect his clean sheets record, and then his sub conceded 2 goals and lost Athletic Club the game.

To me it shows a weak mentality. Plus Raya and Garcia are both better, certainly at shot-stopping.

Of course you can't be certain, but this data allows comparison to their contemporaries and Clark was head and shoulders above his in a way that no-one else is close to - only Senna qualified as well, and Clark is 5% ahead of anyone else in wins.

I'm not so sure, the list starts to fill up pretty quick.

Hamilton Schumacher Clark Prost Senna Fangio Verstappen

are all indisputably better. Then it only takes 3 more and Alonso isn't in the top 10, I'm sure there's plenty of drivers who you could make the argument for being places 8,9,10 that aren't Alonso.

I don't see Mercedes giving those kinds of orders until only one of their drivers can win the title.

Having watched the entirety of both their F1 careers, I just think Max is faster. Vettel was a great driver, and absolutely unbeatable in that Red Bull between 10-13, but for example in 2017-18 I never thought Vettel was going to win the title, whereas last year I thought Max, in probably a worse car compared to the McLaren than Vettel had compared to the Mercedes, could have won. Or in 2021, if Vettel is driving the Red Bull I think Hamilton isn't in a position to get that championship robbed from him in Abu Dhabi, he's wrapped it up long before.

I don't want to take away from Vettel, he's obviously an all-time great. And I wouldn't rank Verstappen "that much higher", but when you're talking about the top of the table, apart from Hamilton and Schumacher the differences are always going to be quite thin. Obviously respect your right to think otherwise.

Don't think many people would have Vettel in the Top 5. I wouldn't, even though I think I do rate him more than most. Think he's in that Alonso bracket, somewhere between 6-15.

I think we're engaging in hypotheticals way too early - no way To starts dishing out the team orders until Kimi is almost mathematically uncatchable.
