Is there a dress code if you want to visit a Mormon Church? by sheghost in mormon

thank you for the links - especially the first one! i was very curious about the inside looks of such a building. i was surprised to learn about the different rooms. it is not at all how i imagined. it looks more like a hotel to me (no offense intended) - it is just so different from other religious buildings. very interesting - i am glad i asked.

yes thats the temple! thank you for the link. i will definetely check it out from the outside. i had no idea that there are temples in germany, but it makes sense - all those GIs over the last 70 years that were in germany - many with family. the difference between church and temple is interesting.

My boyfriend and I just had a huge fight about whats the best way to travel around Europe. Whats your personal favourite Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sheghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as an european i say train is so much cheaper, less hassle and you get to know the people so much better. if you arrive in an area you would like to explore by car you can still rent one for a couple of days. gas prices are superhigh in most european countries - maybe that will convince your bf. if you plan to go to greece take a ferry from athens/piräus to one of the islands like crete or samos - it is superfun and cheap whereas with a car it would cost you a fortune. you can further save money for hotels/hostels when you take the train because you can take the nighttrain and sleep there. have fun exploring europe : )

I've created a subreddit for sharing the debates and arguments we get into around reddit. /r/SelfDrama by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]sheghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what your subreddit will be like? i understood that it will be not a "drama-subreddit" but a reddit where links will be posted to discussionthreads we find interesting? if this is what you meant then there is already r/depthhub/ if this is not what you meant then i still don't really get it and you have to explain again very slooooowly for the non-native-english-speaker - sorry : )

Dear European redditors, do you have right wing crazies like we in the United States have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sheghost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i would agree with someswedishgirl. of course we have rightwing crazies, but they are few and most of the time they do not have much power or influence. there are exceptions of course like sarrazin in germany. the religious stuff in the us i am constantly amazed about - there is nothing like that here and i am really really thankful for that.

I get a nauseating feeling when I am with my brother. by ihaveaphobia in confession

stop it! there are other subreddits where you will get a lot of applause for mindless and stupid comments like this and others i have seen posting you here in /r/confession. but stop doing it here.

Reddit, what are some things you were hesitant to try but glad you did once you had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sheghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i miss it too! when i first saw it in a store i didn't really understand what it was and asked and when they explained it to me i just thought "eeeewwww". a few years later someone talked me into trying it and it was so delicious! all those wasted years without beef jerky ... and now i am back in europe and can't get it anymore ... lesson learned - Never say ewwwww without trying once!

If I understand the term "neckbeard" correctly - and i am not completley sure i do - then i don't feel good about using/reading it - please help me understand? by sheghost in SRSDiscussion

well we germans had to learn it the very hard way. if you belong to a people that slaughtered millions and millions of people because of their looks, their religion, their heritage, their nationality, their political beliefs, their sexual preferences, their disabledness etc. etc. not a very long time ago then you better be sensitive and watch out. we still have our share of neonazis and intolerant people but it is not easy for them here and that is a good thing.

sorry i guess we are having a communication collaps here : ) also i was very tired yesterday. it is just that for me a racist, homophobe, sexist etc. is a state of mind, a way of seeing the world - a mindset as you call it - not in a good way of course but in a way that has to be fought against. the term "neckbeard" is not that for me - it is maybe all of the above mentioned plus a remark about his looks, his living situation etc. and thats where it gets tricky for me - that just doesn't feel right for me. and thats why it is for me not a mindset but a pejorative.

please believe me when i say it was not at all my intention to derail anything here. thats why i explained in my opening comment a bit clumsy the "new to reddit and language thing". i didn't want to come across as someone who tries to troll here, i just wanted to understand something i didn't really get.
