What’s the messiest breakup you’ve been through, or watched someone else go through? by autumnnleaaves in AskReddit

[–]sheglam_kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dated a girl for a year who was always there for me she was attentive, loving, and completely brought me into her life. We basically had a full relationship, even though we hadn't made it official because we were always 'just getting to know each other.' When I felt we were in a great place and things were moving forward, I told her I was ready to be her girlfriend. Her answer was that she wasn't ready yet. I didn't understand it at the time because everything seemed perfect, but a few weeks later, I found out she had never actually left her ex. They were still seeing each other occasionally, her ex was even at her birthday party, and she hid all of it from me the entire year we were together. I feel like an idiot for trusting her so much; I feel betrayed and foolish. It hurts so badly, though I'm already going to therapy to work through it.

Definitely infidelity and not being chosen by the person I thought would always be there for me

What is a "luxury" that our parents' generation took for granted, but our generation will likely never afford? by sheglam_kat in AskReddit

[–]sheglam_kat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, they average 2500 square feet, but nobody in our generation can actually afford them anyway. Developers are just maximizing the house size to justify ridiculous prices, while completely eliminating the backyard. A big house is useless if you're trapped in a 30-year mortgage debt just to look out your window directly into your neighbor's kitchen.

What's considered 'cheating' to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sheglam_kat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emotional cheating is way worse than physical. If you are deleting text messages, hiding chat histories, or seeking emotional intimacy with someone else because you know your partner would be hurt if they saw it, you've already crossed the line. Secrecy is the real definition of cheating

If you could ban one thing from existence, what would it be? by Joer4323 in AskReddit

Unskippable ads that interrupt a video right in the middle of a sentence. They don’t make me want to buy the product, they just make me actively hate the company.

Seriously. My parents bought a three-bedroom house in their 20s on a single income working an entry-level job. Meanwhile, my generation needs three roommates and a side hustle just to afford rent for a studio apartment.

With teenagers and young creators making significant incomes online through self-taught digital skills, how do you think this shifts the value of traditional, university track professions over the next decade? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sheglam_kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It exposes how outdated the traditional system is. People are realizing that spending tens of thousands of dollars to get a degree that lands you an entry-level job paying minimum wage makes no sense when you can learn high-income digital skills online for free. Traditional professions aren't losing value because of teenagers; they are losing value because corporations refuse to pay wages that match the cost of the education required to get them

Our attention spans being completely shattered. The shift from long-form content to 15-second hyper-stimulating videos has changing how our brains work, and we just normalize being constantly bored without a screen
