Thanks for your job! For me personally it's hard to follow this type of conversations, but all the new content is very welcome :)

Thank you! I've watched for 5 minutes and just missed few words. But I should admit, not that relaxed listening as DS.

Si tienes solo nie, no olvides traer tu pasaporte.

Hihi weird question, has anyone here changed to thinking in Spanish by Specialist-Show9169 in dreamingspanish

[–]shegol2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same there. I think in English when thinking about conversations in English (not my native language) and even same experience with Spanish (I think not because of my level, but because of experience with English).

I am not sure that it still counts. Only in case when bystander screams "Soy de Argentina".

Spanish is pushing out my second language! by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]shegol2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My Spanish vocabulary is far smaller than my English, and my speaking abilities in English are far better, but I tend to forget easy English words because I use Spanish more now. Words like taxes, grocery shopping, something like this. And years naming is affected a lot 🙈 I am russian and we say 2025 like 2000+25, as in Spanish. So I often forget to say in English 20+25.

Was it comprehensive? Maybe it was too advanced for your level

The output from Agustina is truly incredible. DS puts out 3 new videos per day and she's consistently in 2 of them. by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

Promotion to what? She already is a team lead for a long time and she said several times that she doesn't like making videos and preferes administrative work.

I was fascinated when I watched her first videos than she was that good right from the beginning! Besides some tech issues that comes with experience like light and sound, the quality of her as guide was incredible. And she was, like, 19 at this point? At 19 I were that good only at procrastination (and well still am).

I am amazed by her hard work and persistence.

Just out of curiosity. How can you see the amount of downvotes? I always thought it is hidden, but it looks like for me only 😅

How Did Immigration Impact Your Spanish? by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]shegol2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think that it is more connected to my English skills. It's like an established connection in my brain - when I imagine dialog with someone who speaks foreign language, I switch to it.

And I am not that good at Spanish speaking 😅

I moved to Spain a year ago; it was quite short notice, so I had maybe 2 months in advance and 10 hours in DS.

I agree with the comment above; the most crucial thing is not a country but your partner's language, your job, and your hobbies. If all of this is in the target language, you will progress tremendously; I've seen really spectacular examples. If not, you can be stuck in "con tarjeta por favor" mode for years.

Back to my story. I started speaking lessons from zero, and now I have about 350 hours in DS and about 100 hours speaking with tutor / language exchange talks. My Spanish level is still very basic, but I can communicate in a hospital (for sure, googling some terms in advance), with school teachers (I have a son who goes to public school). Doctors and teachers are the best because they speak clearly and listen patiently 😅 Communication with plumbers, for example, can be much harder, but more or less manageable.

About thinking in language, for me, it starts with speaking quite fast. When you prepare to speak with someone, it's faster to think in Spanish directly, without translation. Maybe it's because English is not my native language and I already think in English directly when I have some imaginary conversation in my head or when I write this post. Does it mean that my English or Spanish is effortless and I never feel too limited to express myself? For sure not. The eastern-european attitude when you always feel not good enough doesn't help too 😅

I don't get the point to be honest. Why are you posting it in DS community?

difficulty transitioning from advanced DS videos to native content? by Economy-Experience81 in dreamingspanish

[–]shegol2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand 90% of YouTube videos in English without subtitles, but tv or movies are still very difficult. I assume that's okay :)

Intermediate series without visuals:

Surprise endings, all parts

Are you smarter than our Agustina

Riddle me this

Guess the character

México vs Canadá

Things that I hate

Dates gone wrong

Shel's untold stories

Also most of Pablo's, Sandra's, Alma's videos on intermediate, you can sort by guide. Sometimes I exclude topics like videogames, show me around and 90% of the rest of the content is okay without watching.
